Wow - a $42,000,000 clock, designed to last for thousands of years, and programmed by Brian Eno.

I'd say Jeff Bezos, head of Amazon, definitely thinks outside of the box with his fortune.

Being lazy at the moment, I didn't further research just where in West Texas this is located.
Anyone know?

Over a year old but interesting nevertheless.

It is amazing all the things you can do when you have the cash.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

His grandfather owned a 39^2 mile ranch near Cotulla, where Bezos spent a lot of time as a kid, according to Wikipedia.

I just looked that wiki page up. It comes to 25,000 acres. Of course, 25,000 west Texas acres might only support a cow and her calf, and two goats, depending on which part it is. On this map, Cotulla (the red dot) sure doesn't look like "west" Texas to me:

Well, it's west of Houston and Dallas and San Antonio, isn't it? What else matters?

I spent my teenage years in Cotulla. Little South Texas/Brush Country farm/ranch/oil town. Gas and food stop for folks going from San Antonio to Laredo or vice versa. Lots of big ranches, many have large areas used as deer leases. The Wild Hog Cookoff and County Fair attracts a lot of folks.

Taking into account information I learned from They Might Be Giants in my childhood, I can now confidently identify Jeff Bezos as "Universe Man".

He's got a watch with a minute hand, a millennium hand, and an eon hand,
And when they meet it's happy land,
powerful man,
Universe Man.

And another piece of the puzzle fits snugly into place.
