...and more.
Imagine a society where “legislation bans the production, ownership, sale or use of firearms by individuals and commercial and public organizations.”
"The law ... guarantees social safety and protects lives and property of people by fully ensuring law and order in the registration, storage and use of firearms," a news agency reporting on the law explains, adding it "appeared partly aimed at averting unrest and maintaining social order ... ”

Well alrighty then. I think that does it. Safety for society. Humankind has been trying to establish this for millenia. Why did it take so long to figure this out?

We must not be a smart as we think we are.

Very subtle!
guarantees social safety and protects lives and property of people
Eureka!

That is a laudable goal and if it were to be achieved, it would be a fine thing, indeed.

But....
by fully ensuring law and order in the registration, storage and use of firearms,"
That won't do it, by itself or in combination with other "guarantees."

What about violent acts perpetrated using other than firearms? What about knives, cars, baby blankets, ball point pens, axes?

Government so far hasn't been able to "[protect] lives and property of people" or "guarantee social safety" even in prisons where it has virtually total control over materials, movements, interactions, etc. That goal is certainly not going to be achieved by "ensuring law and order in the ...... of firearms."

Bogus!

well, since they guarantee our safety does that mean that they will be held liable if our safety is compromised?

Did you all read the part about the article being based on the DPRK (N. Korea)... ??

And then this harsh reality... from the linked article.
Per the GunPolicy.org analysis for North Korea, “the annual rate of homicide by any means per 100,000 population” for years they present statistics for “is 2008: 15.25, 2004: 18.906, 2002: 19.50.”

By comparison, the United States, hardly a homogenous society, and replete with urban gangs and an armed-to-the-teeth populace that includes 5 million NRA members, weighs in for those same years at 5.86, 5.93 and 6.13 respectively.

There's no such thing as "safety" - even folks with bodyguards get murdered.

All we can do is prepare with arms and training - then hope fortune smiles on us if we're attacked cuz there's no outcome guarantee.

North Korea?

Jeepers!

I read that so fast, it seemed so familiar, it reminded me of my former abode, our long time Senator's dream come true. I thought it was about the Democratic People's Republic of Kalifornistan.

Yes. North Korea is indeed the anti-liberty crowd's fondest dream.
