What a happy story. I hope it works out for this guy. Seems to me he's in for some bad news....

That's pretty funny. The commenters are right, "I didn't read the contract" shouldn't fly for the bank any more than it does for any one else.

Awhile back I read an account of where a woman was offered a job with a company, and they sent her a contract with the offer. She re-typed the second page, signed the contract, sent it back, and accepted the offer. The company signed the ,she worked for awhile, then came a parting of the ways. That's when the company found out they had signed up to some interesting provisions -- I don't remember details, but the company was not pleased. When I worked in government acquisition, a key phrase of wisdom was RTFC: Read the Friggin' Contract, don't just assume...
