Son graduates today

Post by Jaguar »

I'm headed to Stephenville today for my son's commencement ceremony. He will be receiving a double major in Mathematics and Economics, with a GPA of around 3.40 (doesn't have final grade of his last class).

It has been a hard four years, my wife and I tried to pay for it all but we did end up with one semester of student loans when both our kids had tuition due and my wife was off work caring for my terminal mother. My wife now has a good job and my daughter should be okay to go her last two years without loans.

I am proud of him and his accomplishments in school and now hopeful for the future. I am not sure what direction he is going to go with his degrees, but he is not willing to be a teacher. He wants to work in business as an analyst of some type but has no offers. I am hoping he can find something in this economy so he can spread his wings and flourish. At least he is in Texas and seven of the top ten Forbes projected cities for economic growth are in Texas. http://www.forbes.com/sites/kurtbadenha ... -for-jobs/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

He is libertarian to the core, lase-fair economist, strong personal rights advocate, and all around good young man.

Here's to a bright future. :cheers2:

:thewave Congratulations. In Houston, the economy is booming. With his degree and high GPA, he should be able to find something within his chosen field.

If he already has not done this, have him open an account and post a resume on LinkedIn and Careerbuilder.

Through these two websites, I receive several phone calls and emails almost every week for open positions.

I don't know where he wants to live, but he should check out the UTMB- Galveston website. They are always looking.

Congratulations!
Eons ago, math majors were sought out for positions in DoD and related defense industries, energy, and insurance. I imagine those industrial groups continue to have interests in sharp mathematicians such as your son.
