Valid Sign?

Post by bsmcmath »

Everything seems right for the sign......but the penal code listed is 30.60 not 30.06. This is a mix use commercial building. Half the building is offices and the other half is used by a public university.

This identical sign is posted by all doorways. I feel like they spent a lot of time/effort/money getting the sign right, how could they miss the code?

The law is quite clear. It has to be the exact wording.

Exact.

Couldn't find any PC 30.60 in the Texas statutes. There is a 30.60 that relates to medicaid payments, but I'm only in my 40s so that sign wouldn't affect me. :anamatedbanana

Thanks for confirming what I believed to be true

The question now is if I should tell the property management company. I cannot carry at work due to my employers policy but others may ignore this or not have a policy with their employers. The building is mostly the university, hospital admin/IT and other IT companies.

Thanks again for confirming what I suspected.

I'm new to the forum. Besides texas3006.com, are there any other good resources to search/verify carry status? Texas3006.com doesn't have my building listed.

The public university part worries me. Even without a sign I don't believe you can carry at a public university. I am sure others more knowledgeable will chime in.

While I agree that per the letter of the law it's not valid, I think you'd have a really hard time with a judge over an obvious typo. This would be one invalid sign I would not walk past.

Look silently & laugh too yourself. But please tell no one of their folly. Let this little joke stay between us that know better.
