So I know there is a 5.5 inch limit on knives, and come September 1 an auto/switchblade knife will be legal.

I prefer a fixed blade when practical but carry a Benchmade folder at work.

Benchmade seems to be very popular based on another forum I'm on. I'm guessing it is one of the better switchblades since it seems to come up a lot.tbrown wrote:I prefer a fixed blade when practical but carry a Benchmade folder at work.
Re: Let's talk about knives
i like kershaw and gerber myself.
I tend to find 2-3" folders the most usefull and easy to carry.
fixed blade is less practical but safer to use

I have 3 knives I carry for EDC. The most recent is a Benchmade 940 .... It's not assisted or auto but it is super fast, sharp, and handsome.

I carry a SOG Flash II for work. I carry my SOG X-ray Vision Mini for my going out carry. I also sometimes carry my SOG X-ray vision (the mini's big brother) depending where I'm going or what I'm doing. I use my SOG Seal Pup when I go camping and my SOG Daggert 2. I even carry my fathers old KA-Bar 2752 boot-knife dagger he's had since before I was born on hiking trails n such.
I will start carrying my Benchmade 9000s switchblade when September 1st goes Into effect for work. Regardless of San Antonio law.

I carry a Benchmade 585 Mini-barrage, great little knife and while at first I didn't like the serrated part of the edge (knife was a gift) I wouldn't have it any other way - it makes a great saw of sorts.

Yep. Quite a few things kicked in, including making autos legal. I will probably get an auto, because I can

And yet I still won't carry my less than 5.5" "baby" K-Bar because it can be construed as looking like a "bowie" knife.
Re: Let's talk about knives
I generally EDC a Kershaw Leek (one of the three that I own), a Kershaw Echelon, or a Benchmade Axis flipper. I'll pick the one that suits what I'm doing that day. If I'm in the office, I'll probably carry a Leek. Out in the field or in baggier casual clothes - probably the Echelon or the Axis.
I would not say that any of them are truly a "defensive" knife option...but I do ensure that every knife I carry is sharp, and has a blade that's 3" plus.

I just carry a $35 Kershaw. I tend to lose my knifes. It's durable and gets the job done.

My "knife" is either a 9mm or .40 LOL! I never need to get that close to questionable people...knock on wood...
