Four men caught on video
Four men caught on video
In Wayne, NJ, four young black men entered a store that was closed. They shopped around for a while, picked out items that they wanted, left money to pay for the items on the counter and left. It was all caught on video. They even waved the money at the camera to show that they were paying.

And the store owner was so impressed that they were honest he had them come back and gave them a free shopping spree.

Stories like this restore my faith in people.
The sad thing is that it is a news story rather than something that happens frequently.

A gun is like a parachute. If you need one, and don't have one, you'll probably never need one again.

It is good to see this video on MLK famous day. I have a dream, that no more broken families, no more single moms, no more kids raised by gangs.baldeagle wrote:In Wayne, NJ, four young black men entered a store that was closed. This is EXACTLY the reason I refuse to blanket condemn all people of any one race. And also why I despise the political left for the use of the "race card" to cover crimes. People should be judged by their ACTIONS, for bad or for good. It would be nice if more good items were reported in the news but those don't usually get the big headlines the mass media want.

Re: Four men caught on video
Not to rain on anyones parade here...but WHY?
Why enter a closed-store? Why not enter when it was open? If the owner had been snoozing in the back room, woke-up and shot the "shoppers" would we have heard an outcry against the owner for shooting people that intended to pay (though the owner would not have been aware of that fact)?
Race makes no difference. This was asking for trouble and only ended up as nicely as it did based only on what we know...

I don;t think they could tell the store was closed. Lights were on and no closed sign, etc.Purplehood wrote:Not to rain on anyones parade here...but WHY?

They thought the store was open. The lights were on. The stores on either side of them were open. They pulled on the door and it opened. Why would they not think it was open?Purplehood wrote:Not to rain on anyones parade here...but WHY?

The sad part of this story, to me, is that this used to be a common occurrence in America that was taken for granted. Now it's cause for celebration. It's almost as if we're amazed to find an honest person any more. A very sad commentary on the state of the country today.

Re: Four men caught on video
Mr. Cynic (me) wonders: was this a publicity stunt?
I imagine it is possible that somebody could have forgotten to lock the door, but as far as a "malfunction", that type of lock either locks or it doesn't, and it is very obvious either way. My wife and I owned a book store for a few years and the way that we closed the store and locked up was a routine that we did the same way every night.
Either way - it IS nice to see that there are honest people loose in the world!
