NRA requirements?

Post by infoman »

Hi, I'm sure this is on another thread already, but not sure where to start and just had one basic question? I have a good friend of mine that just applied to become a new CHL instructor. He's just an average joe, not police, not military, etc.. I wanted to find out exactly what was needed from NRA, where to go & what to sign up for with them?

I know all other requirements well, just wasn't sure exactly what was needed to satisfy NRA requirement to send in CHL-90 and get the ball rolling..

thanks, Raymond

He will need to be certified as an NRA Pistol Instructor since he has no other form of pistol instruction certificaiton. He can find classes here http://nrainstructors.org/searchcourse.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Raymond.

You will need to take the NRA Pistol Instructor Certification class.
This is the completion cert. the CHL 90 needs.
Be Advised before you take any NRA Instructor class you must take
NRA BIT class for future instructors. If you have a BIT cert. it cannot be more than two years old.
Very often the BIT and Pistol Instructor Clas is taught together on the same day.
These classes are taught by Training Counselors and not Instructors.

You can go here to get started. http://nrainstructors.org/SearchCourse.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Hope this helps :tiphat:

I think that may be real hard to find.. I took my classes in 2009 and we spent all day on BIT and then another full day on Basic Pistol Instructor.. Do them have them down where both can be taught in one day now??

My BIT was on Friday evening and part of Saturday, Pistol Instructor started on Saturday and we shot Sunday morning.
