1st Renewal Question

Hello everyone...I hope all enjoyed a safe and happy Labor Day holiday weekend.

Here goes...

My CHL expires on 1 October, 2013. In May or June I got the reminder from the state that i will be expiring soon and was unaware of the law changes coming up on Sept 1. Thinking I would just get ahead of the game, I renewed online right then and decided to hold off on my renewal course until I stopped traveling.

Fast forward to now and I still have not taken my course since I was unsure as to whether or not I would need to since I don't expire until afte the new law goes into effect.

Short story long...I paid online a few months ago for the renewal, but now that we are after Sept 1, do I still have to take the renewal course since the law changed? Did I lock myself into it since I renewed before September 1st even though I should have waited until now?

I have pretty much confused myself after writing this so I understand if I don't make any sense.

I would go to the CHL contact page and ask them there. I am pretty sure you are OK since your expiration date is after Sept. 1st. At least that is what I understood them to say in Houston a couple of weeks ago. They are well aware that there are folks in your position. It is the folks that expired before Sept. 1 and think they have a grace period that are pretty much hosed.
