Stand by for this:

"A U.S. law that took effect in 2010 allowed people to carry guns into national parks as long as federal, state and local firearms laws were met, according to the National Park Service"

A U.S. law that took effect in 2010 allowed people to carry guns into national parks as long as federal, state and local firearms laws were met, according to the National Park Service.

What was that statement all about? It didn’t say if the firearm was legally in the park or not.
God Bless America, and please hurry.

Maybe they're trying to say she won't face charges for possessing the weapon she used to shoot herself. Who knows? I know engineers who write better than many journalists.

I think his point is that it won't matter to the antis whether the gun was there legally or not. A faulty causation will be established.

I have a FB friend that posted this and thinks that it would not have happened had they not passed a law allowing firearms to be in these parks. He cannot comprehend that it doesn't matter where it happened and that it could have happened anywhere. :banghead:

Story was lacking in any information. Accident? Suicide? Whose gun? Child how old? Mom being charged?

And let's blame Newton for discovering gravity for without it there would be no deaths from jumping off high places.

The top article says it was the father's gun and the girl was only 3 years old :banghead:

Sounds like there may be more to this story that meets the eye to me.

Major ammunition for the anti gunners. There will be a lot of "see I told you so" .

Deaths occur all the time at national parks, I have witnessed one and saw the results of two. (Drowning and two high falls) And I don't go to national parks that often.

But here some one so young, what a real shame.

Per HUFF POST (CRIME September 9, 2013, http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/0 ... 91379.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

Park spokesman Al Nash
"Given the 3 million visitors we see here every year, there thankfully are very few fatalities reported in the park,"

Guns have been allowed in the park for approximately 3 years. That comes out to approximately one incident in 9,000,000 visits.

If one considers the two sources, they both lean to anti gun.
God Bless America, and please hurry.

I know a few that can write also, but it is rare...

OK, on a much more serious note: The fact that this was a 3 year old is just outrageous to me.
1: What was a 3 year old doing unattended in a State Park? I don't care if her parents were just feet away, she was out of sight in a place that could turn bad at a moments notice!
2: What was the gun doing unattended and not locked or at least secured in some form! And with children around this is an even more important question!

Charges should be filed against the gun owner but as the saying goes, you can't fix stupid!

Those are two BIG questions and the same questions I had. You just don't leave something like that out. I bet all their knives were secured.

I'm going to go out on a limb. Here is how I see it.

Camping in Yellowstone. Afraid of Bears. Brought a pistol, put it in their pack. Wanted it close in tent due to fear of Bears. Mom was not a CHL so could not carry it on their person. Toddler down for a nap in tent. Woke up. Went through pack looking for something. Mom thought Toddler was asleep. Toddler found gun.
