Friday October 4th is National "Bring your Gun to Starbucks" Day. On this day millions of gun owners will open and concealed carry their weapon of choice to a local Starbucks to order either a DoubleShot or a just a glass of water. Feel free to leave a round of ammo in the tip jar.

Seriously? I was willing to consider the possibility of sarcasm on your part until your second post, but now...
Their CEO has bent over backwards to not ban guns, and your response is to taunt him over it? Exactly how inconsiderate can you be? They've made it abundantly clear that they don't want to be part of the gun debate. If you force them to pick a side, well, there aren't any signs they can put up requiring customers to carry a gun, so which group do you think they'll ban?

All they want to do is sell coffee without stirring up political hard feelings. Let them do that, please, before you ruin it for everyone.

It is PRECISELY this attitude which caused the Starbucks CEO to write that letter. It is PRECISELY this attitude which will result in 30.06 signs at all Texas Starbucks. THEN will you acknowledge how wrong you are.........or will your attitude keep you in denial?

The simple fact that he posted his idea confirms he thinks that's just a river in Egypt.

So you're saying that in-your-face strategies are effective? It seems we have a general disagreement as a group on effective strategies for bringing about pro-2nd amendment changes.

We get results all the time. We didn't get campus carry. It is unfortunate but that in no way defines the complete 2A war. It is one battle still being faught. We got a huge voctory in Illinois. We got pro-gun laws passed in Ohio, Virginia. The NRA-ILA has tons of success stories. And none of those involved OC campouts at a Starbucks.

The eye roll in condescending and helpful to the discussion, right?

I disagree with the idea of collectively going anywhere to prove a point where an invitation to do so hasn't been provided by the business owner. That doesn't mean I remain silent. I communicate with my local, state and federal legislators and I educate my family and friends. Prior to the Starbucks announcement, if I were open carrying and in need of a cup of coffee then stopping by Starbucks would have been a minor event. Showing up with several people carrying firearms and a camera is grandstanding. I would expect it to induce a negative response as that was it's purpose.

That being said I disagree with Mr. Schultz and I will not do business with Starbucks again. His initial letter is not what drove my decision. It was his response to Poppy about why there is no ban. He said his people would feel uncomfortable when confronting a customer holding a firearm. IMHO, his answer implies that the open carry person that is asked to leave, is somehow less rational or is more prone to creating a disturbance than a non carrying customer.

One has to make up one's own mind as to whether he or she still wants to spend money at Starbucks. I just ask that the firearm community stop demonstrations without invitation. I see more damage than good with this approach.
