Well, I finally got around to making up some rimmed cases for my S&W
940, 9mm revolver. Failing to find any 9mm Federal brass I trimmed
38 S&W brass down to 9mm specs. All it really took was to trim
from .770 down to about .750, then run them through my regular 9mm
Luger sizing die. I sized them so the case mouth was just short of
touching with the rim bottomed out. Now the extractor works like it
was meant to, without moon clips. Went a whole bunch smoother than
I had anticipated.
I then made up some really soft loads starting with 36 cal lead round
balls. They worked great so I loaded up some 95 gr FMJ and worked up
to 5grs of AA #5. The fired brass came out looking fine with no signs
of stress. It is all Starline and I didn't expect any problems, but it
doesn't hurt to take it slowly. This is still a very light load but for my
purposes (real close in stuff for small critters) it is all that I need.
I also made up some "snake" rounds with .38 Special capsules and 95
grs of shot. They look weird (really long looking) but function just fine
in the revolver.
The whole point of this was to create a rimmed cartridge for my revolver
that did not require moon clips. It is my carry-while-I'm-cutting-cedar
gun and I never liked carrying around spare moon clips of 9mm in my
pocket (too bulky). I can now use Bianchi Speed Strips which are flat
in the pocket. And besides it was fun to screw around with something
odd that turned out to work quite well.
Slow night so thought I'd share,
Kind Regards,
Tom

14 miles South of I-10, 2.5 miles East of US-83. In the very NW corner
of Kerr County.

I'm the one in the middle.
It is about a 2 year old picture. I have cleared a bunch more cedar
since then. And just came in from dragging and burning another big
pile.
Where is Saddlewood?
Kind Regards,

My lot is here. We are working up a house plan with a local designer. We fell in love with Kerrville a long time ago when first camped at then Kerrville State Park when the kids were little. Truly God's country.

The developer donated the land for the spur extension for the bridge access. The new bridge will be a plus for the property values. :D
The traffic through downtown Kerrville can be annoying, especially on the weekends when the Guadalupe tubers are in town.
