Since no one has said anything but good thing about the guy getting involved I think we can take it as a given. But, as I said before I do believe that mentioning the risk of making that your first option is warranted not to knock the guy but to be aware of the possibilities of a response in other circumstances that those here may get involved in. It worked out for this guy and I'm very happy. Someone here may get the idea that it's 100% the way to react and end up in jail because of what they read. That is what I am speaking to.
Agreed.

I'm completely happy it worked out well for this guy. I also admire his willingness to "get involved" when things can only go down hill for him. He did a good, selfless thing.

I don't understand why he pulled a gun on two adults that were not armed.
I'd like to know what would have happened if one or more of the parents decided that they were not going to sit down? Would he actually shoot a parent? Is that a good deal for the child long term?
Tough choices.

After watching the video and learning that the child was transported to the hospital with a head injury, I believe that this had escalated to the point that immediate drastic intervention was necessary to save the child's life. The guy did what had to be done.
We can suggest alternative approaches all day but we weren't there and we don't know all the circumstances. For all we know a big hulking man trying to intervene physically may have actually resulted in further injury to the child, if not death.
I'm just as bad at playing Monday morning QB as anyone else, but I'm not touching this one. In my book this guy gets :thumbs2:.
Life is tough, but it's tougher when you're stupid.
