Dont mess with Maryland gun laws

A Washington DC woman investigative journalist's home was raided by an armed SWAT team from the State of Maryland and the Department of Homeland Security. The purpose of the warrant, to search the home for illegal guns. The reason, her husband was convicted of a crime in 1986 and is prohibited from having a gun.
BTW confidential notes and information on her confidential sources on her story on the problems with the Air Marshal service were also removed.
One of my friends recently said that he was getting paranoid. Does anyone blame him?

I read that story too. No firearms, ammunition, etc., were mentioned as being found, only that they had a warrant to look for them. No indication why they thought this was necessary, too. My thought is, if they -had- found them, there would have been mention in the story.
Also, his arrest/conviction was from 1986. Anyone wonder why they waited 23 years to get a warrant to make sure he was following the terms of his conviction?
I expect this sort of thing from history books about the USSR, not the USA.

Did I read the same article? The guns and ammo was the red heiring. The report of "But without Hudson’s knowledge, the agents also confiscated a batch of documents that contained information about sources inside the Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Administration" that was the point of the search.

Re: Dont mess with Maryland gun laws
I guess the only part missing from the story for Nazi Germany would be that they had a warrant and they were not taken outside and shot.
Raid was at 4:30 am.
The husband was convicted of resisting arrest in 1986.
He works for the coast guard as an ordinance officer.
It does not mention at all that any guns or ammunition were found.
A case was built around something they found on Facebook and something he told unnamed individuals.
I could find only this one article everything else just uses this article as a basis for there story.
There is a story she wrote about Obamacare missing deadlines.
She apparently wrote a story about terrorists doing dry runs.
Also a story about higher ups at Homeland Security lying to congress about the actual number of flights with Air Marshals
It says the papers were taken because they were government documents.
She replied that they were obtained through the freedom of information act. No reason was given why her personal notes were taken. They contain the names of whistle blowers who still work at the Air Marshal service.
That is until they are taken out and shot.

Washington Times prepares legal action.
Three months since the raid, no charges have been filed against the husband.
How about if you get convicted of violating someones constitutional rights, you get fired. Would that help with this sort of stuff.

Looks like the 4th Amendment doesn't apply when one is critical of the State...

A part of Maryland (not the Western part or the Eastern shore) is nothing but an extension of the decay that is Washington today. They have passed laws that prohibit the filming of public officials in any way so that there can never be a recorded critique of them. The Chicago corruption that has taken over the area simply added to the problem. Gun rights and apparently now the right of free speech even in the press no longer exist.

If this is what you were referring to, those charges were dropped and the people’s rights upheld.Maryland laws prohibit filming of public officials

http://reason.com/blog/2010/05/29/maryl ... ts-illegal. I haven't followed every one of those and if they are all resolved by the same court ruling, that is good news. I continue to worry that, like the non-compliant 30.06 signs here in Texas, not all of the police have gotten the message. As the motorcycle videotaper did, it might cost a lot of money to fight an official videotaping incident in MD yet today.
