Best small caliber pistol? .22? .38? Looking to buy!

Don't know if you checked this out yet, but I just saw it on the website. Haven't seen one at a gun show yet, but NAA is making the derringer in .17 HMR and Mach 2! Awesome...I can't wait to get one. It might not stop a BG on impact, but at the velocities that these rounds can attain, it would certainly go through him.

Have you seen the movie "Ronin?" De Niro has a great line in it. They were talking about guns and the guy is insulted by the 1911 and calls it "an old gun." De Niro says: "It served my country well...for lots of years."

You guessed it, I'm not a big fan of the 1911, but I've owned one. I still don't see what's so wrong about my NAA .17. It can be carried in a shirt pocket! That has to amount to something...

From what I've seen and heard, 1911's are very sacred. Personally, I'd rather carry a more modern gun. The Para Ordnance sub-compact has piqued my interest lately though. I've thought about buying one, but I've heard negative things from purists.

I do carry a 1911 in .45 ACP. I also read all the above posts about a .32 making someone mad & you then have to pistol whip them.
I dont see anyone standing in line to prove how ineffective they are at one shot stops.

Still dont want one for my primary carry though.

Those little .17's "splatter" when they hit. Have to aim for head shot on anything larger than a rabbit.]

Most 22LR autos aren't a good choice for a back-up.
As a fun shooter/plinker they are great.
Trouble is they gum up real bad and require a lot of cleaning.
Any of the name brand 22 autos will serve as a plinker.
The Ruger MKII is a very popular model with TONS of aftermarket accessories.

For a back-up you might want to consider a .32acp as a minimum.
I highly recommend the Seecamp LWS-32.
It is the smallest 32 out there right now and built solid as a rock.
There are several very effective factory loadings for it.
It ain't cheap but you shouldn't bet your life on cheap.
