Gun registration & Out of state carry

Post by tommyg »

what are the laws on carry if another state honors Texas Chl but requires gun registration and of Fire arms owner card etc
I seldom go out of Texas any more although I was a New Hampshire resident for several years

Any particular state in mind? If they honor a Texas CHL and you are visiting/passing thru, "registration" is not an issue.

I don't see any states on this list that offer TX CHL's reciprocity.
Seems not to be a worry...

The only state I've been to that is close to this is IL and I couldn't carry there. I'm not even sure they require registration of each firearm, but they do require the FOID. I have traveled there and legally transported a few guns to my family member's property out in the farmland, where we shot many rounds without a visit from anyone except the nearest neighbor bringing his guns to come shoot with us and talk guns.

Now that IL has or will soon have a CC law I'm not sure what they will require, but I doubt any state would require a non-resident to register their firearms if they were just visiting the state. That is, if you can legally possess the gun in their state at all.
