Clive Staples Lewis

Died: Nov 22, 1963
Born: Nov 29, 1889

Novelist-Poet-Academic-Literary critic-essayist-Lay theologian.

For me the most significant sentence he ever wrote was:
"Aslan is not a tame lion."

Not open to religious discussion.

My son (5 1/2) has been listening to the Chronicles of Narnia on audiobook. I suppose it's fitting that today will probably be the day he finishes The Last Battle. I started him on them not sure how much he would comprehend (if nothing else, I think there's a benefit in exposure to the English language being used well), but he started sobbing when Reepicheep sailed away at the end of Voyage of the Dawn Treader and wouldn't be consoled for at least half an hour. Then I heard him giggling out loud during The Magician's Nephew. I loved those books, and love them all the more seeing how they touch my son.

C.S. Lewis is in my top 5 most beloved authors. Sadly I know precious little about JFK, except that he was Catholic, that he was a bit of a womanizer, and kept my mother from being friend in the Cuban Missel crisis. Wish I knew more about him.

I wonder where trustworthy information could be had.

:headscratch :confused5

I've used the JFK Library's files (both library-prepared and research by others) several times.

There are hundreds of different books, articles, reports, essays, etc. written about him . The hard thing to do would be to decide which one to use.

I assume you meant "fired," not "friend." Your mother was a Cuban missile?

Maybe "fried" in the Cuban crisis.

I loved reading the Screwtape Letters and Mere Christianity. Fantastic books IMO. CS Lewis strikes me as one of those rare breeds who was a great mixture of the true everyman, relatable to all and yet overfilling with brilliance and insight.
