Response from newly acquired school teacher with CHL: I'll take a .45 please! Well on second thought, give me the 9mm just in case I need the extra ammo to stop the threat! Do you have that in a Glock?

I think that the reference to the handgun is a bit of tongue in cheek humor by the author making reference to how tough the Dallas Schools are.....

Maybe Mesquite ISD will up the ante and give the sign up bonus and a Mac 10?

$42K starting??? With a bonus of $4K for bilingual???

Wife Unit would be in high cotton (pardon the pun)...

But from what I understand the "big" city school districts have obviously a high turnover...They burn out more teachers that may not understand what they are getting into these days...

And Venus probably knows more about this than anyone I suppose...

But we're playing it smart...We plan on staying out of the big city in the near future (thats the plan)...Thos smaller rural school district to us seem to be a bit more realistic, and turn out a better product in the K-12 arena anyway...And the teachers stick around longer...Sure the pay is not as good as the city, but the cost of living is obviously less...But to us its a better environment, and thats important to us...

Wife Unit already has a couple of guns anyway... ;-) One more may not hurt...

I have taught in the Mesquite ISD for 32 years and we finally pay more than Dallas. However, even if the pay was $25,000 more in Dallas than Mesquite, I would not be caught dead teaching there. pun intended.
