Sad but sounds like it needed to be done.

So sad. Can't fault the dad, he's got to deal with this the rest of his life. I wonder if there was a history of this behavior with the son. Not that it makes it any easier for the dad, but if the son was a persitantly violent person, maybe the family knew what he was capable of and what had to be done to stop him from hurting/killing the daughter in law.

That's a tragic story if the family was close. Some families are so far apart you cant tell their related at all.

Flint Wilkey had quite the extensive criminal history. Multiple (3) DWI's, a robbery charge, possession of marijuana, falsifying a drug test in which sent him to do some time in jail, a harassment charge which was his most recent conviction back in December 2012.Texsquatch wrote:So sad. So it's probably safe to say he was a habitual alcohol consumer and could have possibly been drunk in this particular incident and his Dad knew that he had the potential to do substantial harm and had had enough.

reading through the comments on the article someone connected to the family seemed to indicate that the son was on drugs at the time of the shooting (big surprise
). Also that there were kids in the home and the son's mother/dad's wife at the time of the shooting. So dad was protecting the wife, but also himself and the rest of the family. But...he's going to have to live with the shooting, and with the raising of the son he had to shoot, and that's going to be rough.

Not defending the deceased here (not a nice guy), but didn't the D.I.L. Know what she was marrying? He seemed to have a track record of this behavior.tomtexan wrote:Flint Wilkey had quite the extensive criminal history. A lot of men with pathological tendencies are very good at keeping them hidden until after they are married.Wodathunkit wrote:Not defending the deceased here (not a nice guy), but didn't the D.I.L.
