Never Forget.

Only 12, not quite there yet. Although, I know it's just around the corner.sjfcontrol wrote:Or... Dating your son...baldeagle wrote:You'd better not. Otherwise she'll be taking lessons.C-dub wrote:That is too cool. I am not letting my daughter see this.

I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

Re: Son achieving new heights
My youngest son is in 6th grade. My wife and I get the biggest kick out of him talking about who is going out with who. My oldest son is in the 8th grade. When he talks about who is going out with who, he gets a lecture from his Mom about which girls he should be "talking to" and which girls he should be "running from". It's amazing how much difference two years makes.C-dub wrote:Only 12, not quite there yet. Although, I know it's just around the corner.sjfcontrol wrote:Or... (I'm sure some of those "who"s should have been "whom"s, but I wasn't an English major.)

I'm with Mom on this one. While I admire his sense of adventure, my nerves would be shot. Lol. Hubby took DD on a flight around the islands back when he was taking lessons. I told him not to come back without her.

Thanks, I'll have to remember that.AndyC wrote:There's a simple method - use the letter M to help you decide which is correct (aka the he/him rule):jmra wrote:(I'm sure some of those "who"s should have been "whom"s, but I wasn't an English major.)
If you would say "he" = who
If you would say "him" = whom
For example....
Who went for a walk? He went for a walk
To whom did you give it? I gave to him

Was he flying that thing himself?? That is so cool! The closest I ever got to flying was the time I jumped out the second story window with a sheet. My brother and I were just certain it would act like a parachute.WildBill wrote:What a great view.jmra wrote:A pic of my 13 yo son flying this past Sunday. He is with an instructor but he is doing all of the flying. The earliest you can solo is 14. He turns 14 next month but he only has 22 flights under his belt. I expect he will solo early summer.03Lightningrocks wrote:Was he flying that thing himself?? That is so cool! Re: Son achieving new heights
jmra,
That's great... That appears to be a G103, which, like you son, I learned to fly on when young.
My experience was that the instructors are much tougher on the young ones - they don't want any problems on record.
When he wants a powered aircraft, there was a G109 in central Texas is still part of the glider category.

Re: Son achieving new heights
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds, --and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of --Wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air...
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark or even eagle flew --
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
High Flight - John Magee
