Congratulations! Proud Navy Dad!

If you carry a gun, people call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you carry a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about?

First of all - Congratulations and fair seas to her. Hope she got into the rating she wanted.
When I went to basic in Great Lakes 1976, we fired 10 rounds from a .22 rifle. That was it.
We were the first company to transition basic with no rifles at all. We actually removed the rifle
racks from the barracks. Didn't shoot a gun again until I was on my boat. Then we qualified
with .45, M14 and shotgun regularly. Usually when at sea. If you could hit the water AND didn't shoot the OOD,
you qualified.
