AR Pistol as a truck gun

Post by papajohn1964 »

Just bought a Extar EXP and was wondering how to carry it in the truck. I have a tactical rifle case that it fits in with a magazine in it, is that consider concealed if it's say on the back seat or in the floorboard? I have heard that a pistol laying on the seat covered by a towel is legal but not a good idea. I would eventually like to get it to fit under the backseat somehow but that's going to require taking out the under seat organizer and I'm not sure I want to do that.
Yes the Marines are a Department of the Navy.....The Mens Department....

A gun totally enclosed in a case is concealed for MPA purposes. Doesn't matter if the case appears to be a gun case or not.

Would you leave it like that when you go into a store or would you hide it better? That's my standard if something is concealed enough.

You are pointing out the difference between common sense versus legal requirements. :smilelol5: :thumbs2:

If an AR pistol is in a case on the back seat or on the floorboard, what good is it as a truck gun?

Not trying to be a SA here, I just ask because my 'truck gun' is one that I can reach in a hurry if the need arises......

You may wish to look into this. The photo in this link does not fully represent how this holster works.

There is a long strap which encircles the vehicle's seat from front to rear, holding the holster and handgun
in front of your driver's seat.

This is the one I use in the car. It carries my .357 Rossi (loaded with .38 JHP's), covered with a towel that I
keep on the seat. The holster can carry a wide variety of large or small handguns.

IMHO, this would be a better option to provide you with firepower when you are in your seatbelt and unable
to easily draw your primary weapon. YMMV.
