Since you said "militarization", here's a "militarization" coincidence for you. Perhaps not a coincidence at all.
The Military Cooperation with Civilian Law Enforcement Agencies Act of 1981
3000 no knocks in 1981 and climbing steadily at a rapid pace.

The Military Cooperation with Civilian Law Enforcement Agencies Act is a United States federal law enacted in 1981 that allowed the military of the United States to cooperate with law enforcement. Operations in support of law enforcement include assistance in counterdrug operations, assistance for civil disturbances, special security operations, combatting terrorism, explosive ordnance disposal (EOD), and similar activities. Constitutional and statutory restrictions and corresponding directives and regulations limit the type of support provided in this area.

The Act is cited in the 1992 essay The Origins of the American Military Coup of 2012 as having set a precedent that the author, a United States Air Force officer, considered dangerous.

The Act was known as Public Law 97-86 and is codified at title 10 of the United States Code, Chapter 18.

No knock break-ins in the middle of the night are the hallmark of a police state and are unamerican.

I think Drjoker's comment above summarizes this issue best. The loss of Adam is tragic, but not surprising. The actions of the DA trying to find a way to punish the homeowner after the grand jury's decision is self-serving.

The homeowner killing in my neighborhood, Woodhaven, is also unamerican. Bending the process to achieve your political goal (or agenda) destroys both the integrity of the process and the integrity of our police.

Both of these incidents have scarred me personally.
My two cents,
Nick
I can't find it now but somebody here has a signature quote that applies. Something about police that make war on the citizens are friends with the criminals.

Texanjoker has one that states just the opposite:
A SOCIETY THAT MAKES WAR WITH ITS POLICE SHOULD BE PREPARED TO MAKE PEACE WITH ITS CRIMINALS
Life is tough, but it's tougher when you're stupid.

Could be they're both right. Bad guys of all stripes (including pinstripes) benefit from infighting among the good guys.
