I couldn't find a link to the exact arrest in question, but if you are doubting that the Federal government has UNLIMITED RESOURCES and STUPENDOUS TECHNOLOGY like, "gasp" airplanes that cannot be detected by radar, etc, then here is a link to a system the NYPD uses that is effective to 16 ft. This is a much more prmitive version of the scanner that the Feds use. The Feds can actually see you naked inside a building with whatever you're carrying in your pockets from space. Anyways, here's the link to the toys available to the NYPD and evidently to you, pretty soon (since you seem so interested and you are a LEO):

P.S. The statement that they can see you from space is a HYPERBOLE. The Feds have classified systems that can see you from a very far distance away, but nobody knows how far because it is classified. However, my friend the patent attorney saw the patent for it so I know that it exists. Based on what I read about the arrest and the physics behind the patent, it probably can scan you from a distance of 50 to 150 yards, as a guesstimate.

P.P.S. Best course of action is to avoid Grapevine Mills Mall !

I only carry where it is accepted, sign or no sign, any type of sign or wording. Any place I'm "non-wanted" I stay away from; this includes "no-smoking" places (yes, I have smoked for 60 plus years).

I don't HAVE to go to or patronize ANY business or place that doesn't accept my pro-gun position or 2nd Amendment rigthts.

I am too old to get detained, arrested, take the ride, or fight for "rights" (aka to enter a anti-gun place and take a chance on being "found out").

If my smoking, or gun bothers or offends you...then just stay away from me and I'll stay away from you and yours!

Just my pro-gun, conservative, patriotic opinion.

I made a mistake and posted a new topic with this question without searching first. So I apologize to all.

Has anyone been to grapevine mills mall lately? Are the correct signs posted? Just trying to do a little legwork before I venture that way.

Thank you for any help, and thanks to the moderators for keeping the redundant questions out.

I am just going to say you should go to the mall and look for signs. If you observe an enforceable sign return your handgun to the vehicle.

I am intentionally not being specific for a reason.

If you read back in this thread the signs are of the old verbiage (unless something new has shown up). Grapevine police have specifically stated an officer 'MAY' arrest you for passing the signs as they believe it provides proper notification. So, we really need someone with a lot of money and time on their hands to go be a test case for us. Any volunteers? :banghead:

I nominate Keith with Charles' working as his defense attorney. Hey, it's always easier to spend OPM.

chuck j wrote:Pretty good posts and replys but I dont really understand why so many want to 'test' the system ,seems childish to me , business's , schools others have rights too. We have gained more privilege in a short while than many special groups do in a lifetime . Testing our CHL rights will be very counterproductive , so far we have set an excellent example in our behavior and we are actually a privileged group of Texans . We are steadly making more progress and I see 'testing' or pushing the limits as being self-destructive . Look at the new amendments to the requirements as to carry and renewal , it's crazy to jeopardize our good record . I just do not have a hard time working around the present restraints set on me carrying and as time goes on our carry privilege's will grow .
:iagree:

With the large numbers of folks acquiring CHLs in Texas, I would expect a no-guns-no-money attitude will soon become noticeable to the 'bottom line'.
My local Sprouts is an example... my wife and all of my like-minded friends are encouraged to no longer visit the store.

In truth, it would be very hard to devise a test. You would have to have a setup where you were printing badly and made a point of turning that part of you toward a Grapevine Officer.

My last visit to that mall (and they are very far and few between but I do occasionally give into our granddaughter and take her to the Rainforest Cafe), there were rent-a-cops on Segways but no GPD visible. Me thinks you would have to really, really want to attract attention and that raises the possibility of of all sorts of other problems.

The biggest problem is the licensed CHL population of Texas is about 2%. Take that number, remove the ones that are inactive or don't carry and that takes you down further. Then remove those that don't patronize a location anyway (like me, I don't ever go to Sprouts) and you now have even reduced the total number who MIGHT choose to go somewhere else vs. just removing their gun and going anyway. My guess is most businesses that post 30.06 would suffer significantly less than 1% loss of their actual customer base by a CHL boycott. However, a letter writing campaign does do some good and several letters from CHL holders or supporters will get attention that may sway the business to reconsider their posting. :thumbs2:

I can't believe those things still run, I about wore them out when I was working security there ;-)

Pairs of GPD officers often stroll through the mall but it's mostly as a presence... they mostly stay near the substation across the hall from the security office (plainclothes there too, lots of narcs).

Security isn't paying attention.

I hadn't been there in over a year until last week when we had to go twice. We always enter through the ice rink (in case there's a hockey game going on. . . hey, free entertainment!) - the rink is not posted. Entrance from the ice rink to the mall isn't posted.

I have to go back one more time in the next week, after which I plan to resume my normal routine of not going to malls, not for safety concerns, but rather because I just don't like malls.

As far as I'm concerned and will continue to insist, I received no legal notification that I'm not allowed to carry anywhere I went during my visit.
