"Wife-Unit" called the nice lady in Utah at the BCI office, and got the story...
They are not going to process out of state applications until they get done with the in state permits...
THis is going to force the out of state permits to have a 6-8 month timeframe to be processed...
The actually processing probably doesn't take very long, but its the complaints from the in-state folks about how long it has been taking theirs to get completed...That has prompted the BCI Utah CHP folks to prioritize...
Whats funny is our packets have been on their desk for 90+ days already...I'm predicting to see Utah plastic between late August and November this year...
I'm taking this in stride, and am not at all displeased...I am just glad there is a backup on permits and licenses in the states that issue these credentials...
Shows that there are people taking this seriously...And that we are doing a great job in promoting the idea!
The irony...
We will probably get our renewals from Austin (sent in after the Utah info)before we get our Utah permits...

Steve,
What is the value of getting an additional permit from Utah? I think it only allowed a couple of additional states on the east coast that I could see.
Can one apply and qualify for one here in Houston without a trip to Utah?

CHL Instructor, Member NRA (Life), TSRA, GOA, IDPA, FFL holder, Veteran (USN) and of course a proud TEXAS native.
My wife is from Ohio and I can see myself making a trip there in the not too distant future. If I understand things correctly Ohio recognizes a Utah CHL bu not Texas. If that is the case what are the procedures for applying for a Utah CHL?
How we conduct ourselves defines us. At the end of the day we answer to ourselves. At the end of our days we answer to God.
The procedure for applying for the Utah permit is not much different from Texas.
You take the class from a certified instructor.
You get photographed and fingerprinted.
You fill out the application and get it notarized.
You send it to Utah along with your $59 fee, and in something between 60 days and 6 months, you get your Concealed Firearms Permit.
You do NOT have to go to Utah to take the class. I am in the DFW area. To find a Utah instructor in your area, check here: http://www.bci.utah.gov/CFP/CFInstructors.html
