Well there was no avoiding Oprah. Hanoi Jane was not much more than a chair in the background. Oprah was all over it. With the politics of Hollywood being what they are, I would never watch any new movie if I avoided it because the writers, directors or actors being a socialist, libtard elitist or race baiter. I like watching movies, so I just ignore the ignorance of the crowd making and acting in them.
I agree and I'm a movie buff too, but Oprah is in the same league as Piers Morgan, and I'm not going to listen to them in any venue.

We watched "The Butler" last night. Total fantasy from the opening scenes on. Ignoring that fact I found it entertaining. The sad thing is many will accept this Hollywood propaganda as truth because they're too lazy or too inept to find the truth.

Jane Fonda crying over her own mortality.

I was sort of hoping she was ill. But alas, she was just realizing she was old.

I've avoided this movie because I plum just don't have the time for many movies and this one doesn't come close to a priority for me. That and while I acknowledge that boycotting Hollywood for political tendencies would leave me without much entertainment, I choose not to knowingly contribute towards anything that will benefit Lee Daniels.

Based solely on your recommendation, "The Butler" is in our Netflix queue.

We just watched the movie and didn't recognize Jane Fonda.

We lived through those times, Mrs. Oldgringo in Alabama and me in Tennessee. We remember when neither Tennessee nor Alabama had Negro players on their respective SEC football teams. I am not proud of the way the Negroes were treated up to, and through, the Civil Rights movements of the 60's. That does not mean we condone free cell phones, etc., and the welfare of today, however. Furthermore, we surely did not feel sufficient honky guilt to vote for the current POTUS. :banghead:

Oh, the movie is worth 3 stars....maybe.
