Cross draw IWB

Post by edorgon »

I'm left handed and when driving access to my IWB weapon (a Ruger LCP) is pretty difficult and constricted. i was thinking about wearing the IWB holster on my right side and cross drawing. Any opinions? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum. I can not fathom why you, as a lefty, would have problems. Carrying right handed, my gun/holster sometimes interferes with buckling the seat belt.

Thanks Bill. Issue is I usually drive a small sports car so there is very little room between me and the door and door handle.

I'm a righty and carry cross-draw, I also drive a pretty small car, not a sports car, but it's small-ish. I carry cross because it's easier on my shoulder for me to reach. I carry an LCP. take a look at http://kusiakleather.com that's the holster I use.

I am right handed but carry cross-draw in the car because of the interference of the seatbelt when in the car. I carry a Glock 31 or Ruger SR1911, so more room is needed. Carrying on the left in the car also lets you pull right handed and not let the person outside the car see you. You can shoot through the door if necessary. I also have a Ruger LCP that I carry in the summer when more often I have on shorts.

Do you carry IWB or OWB for cross-draw?

I always carry IWB...well, unless I'm carrying in a garter band, or in my purse :biggrinjester: (sorry, I had to do it)

The inside the car cross draw was one of the reasons I bought a couple of the Remora holsters (one for my PX4 and one for the LCR). As they have no clips, they're easy to move from strong side to crossdraw, even while seated in the car. So far, so good.
