True Detective (TV Show)

Post by cdc101 »

Didn't see a thread about it and wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts about the show (apologies if I missed the thread).

My personal opinion is that it was one of the best series' I have ever seen. Big fan of the actors in the show and even a bigger fan of MM now.

Definitley not for the feint of heart with the subject matter, violence, and 'adult situations' so I don't know how many here watched it...and being on HBO also leaves out many who aren't subscribers, but it was definitley gripping TV.

*Edited to add* - The season was only 8 episodes and has already staretd and finished this year. From my understanding Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson will not be back next year as writer will focus on a new partnership for the show.

Yes, watched the whole thing, very gritty, very realistic, and disturbing on several levels. Matthew and Woody were cast perfectly I thought. Mostly disturbing is that there really are people like all of that.

Gritty is a very good way of putting it.

Loved it !! Hope the next storyline will be as good, and that they get top talent for it also.

They sure set the bar extremely high with this one. Will be tough to top MM as Rustin Cohle and WH Marty Hart! I believe MM will be getting an Emmy or 2 for that performance.

Watched it all and can't wait for the next seasons episodes. MM and WH were excellent as was most of the cast. I thought it was interesting how the two detectives developed tunnel vision about Rust's involvement/guilt not unlike happens in real life. MM and WH should both get awards for their performances, IMHO. WH has some experience with investigations due to his father's criminal history and his efforts to clear Charles Harrelson of the murder of Judge John "Maximum" Wood for Jimmy Chagra.
