Six Shooters - Open Carry

Post by WildBill »

I ran across this old photo of some of the TV western stars with their six shooters.

Image

From left: Will Hutchins ("Sugarfoot" Brewster-Sugarfoot), Peter Brown (Johnny McKay-Lawman), Jack Kelly (Bart Maverick-Maverick), Ty Hardin (Bronco Laine-Bronco), James Garner (Bret Maverick-Maverick),
Wayde Preston (Christopher Colt-Colt .45), John Russell (Dan Troop-Lawman).

I only see four guys. Garner, Preston and Russell are cut off????
EDIT: Never mind. I saved the image and I can view it entirely. Must be something abut my settings

Except for Will Hutchins. ;-)

Nice pic. I've been open carrying one of these for many years. They're lightweight, comfortable, and don't get in the way when climbing on tractors, ATV's or fixing fences and other things...

Those look like single action revolvers. If their fingers are on the triggers and the hammers are down maybe they just shot the bad guy.

If one of them had been Marshall Dillon it's a sure thing there's a dead bad guy lying on the street.
Edit: Found the photo of the opening scene of Gunsmoke just before Matt Dillon practices excellent gun handling skill and trigger control on Arvo Ojala.

:tiphat: You're welcome. Once while they were filming the opening scene he and James Arness reversed the outcome and Arness (Marshall Matt Dillon for the youngsters) fell down dead. All those guys in your original picture more than likely trained with Ojala. I know James Garner did.

Will Hutchins is the only one that might not be using the "Excessive booger hook" technique.
