I think his last project before he died was constructing the double gun rig for Kevin Costner and teach him, Scott Glenn, Kevin Kline AND Brian Dennehy to quick draw for "Silverado".puma guy wrote:WildBill wrote:Thanks for that bit of trivia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arvo_Ojala" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;puma guy wrote:If one of them had been Marshall Dillon it's a sure thing there's a dead bad guy lying on the street.tbrown wrote:Those look like single action revolvers. If their fingers are on the triggers and the hammers are down maybe they just shot the bad guy.
Edit: Found the photo of the opening scene of Gunsmoke just before Matt Dillon practices excellent gun handling skill and trigger control on Arvo Ojala.
[ Image ]You're welcome. Once while they were filming the opening scene he and James Arness reversed the outcome and Arness (Marshall Matt Dillon for the youngsters) fell down dead.
All those guys in your original picture more than likely trained with Ojala. I know James Garner did.
FWIW, as a young man (6-12) I lived with my mom and saw Dad over the summers. He lived in Midwest City, OK for a long time and we hit Frontier City pretty often (It's a stinking remnant of itself these days). They had phenomenal gunfights and western stars made appearances often. I got to meet and shake hands with James Drury, Clu Gallagher, Doug McClure and John Russell. Couldn't get close to Ken Curtis when he was there. There were a myriad of lesser known actors as well. A couple of times I'd feel someone standing beside me, look up and there they were. My favorite ride was a "Spelunkers Cave" and it was common to be boated with one of the park's actors or visiting celebrity. I miss my dad and I miss those days.
