Friendswood Animal Shelter: Donations (goods, not money)

Post by Charles L. Cotton »

The Friendswood Animal Shelter is a no-kill shelter that has only one or two paid employees. Everyone else is a volunteer and they need donations of various items that are explained in detail in the notice below. Please help if you can.

Thanks,
Chas.

I just moved to Friendswood, as animal lovers my bride and I would gladly donate, could you send me the address? The full photo didn't show up on my iPad.

Charles, I will send some items down.

Our church has a blessing of the animals every year at the Irving Animal Campus (Irving pound and SPCA share a building and the SPCA takes animals about to be put down). It is advertised and well promoted. We ask for donations to be brought in, have our praise and worship band playing, and do a general prayer for the animals. Then break out into individual groups and pray for each animal. This gives the area a chance to come see the animals, donate, adopt, and/or just have some fun. Each year it gets bigger and both the city and SPCA have increased adoptions for that day over most any other time. But as important, the donations of needed items are tremendous on those days.

Thanks and it sounds like your church is making a bid difference for the Irving shelter.

Man, I wish I was closer and that I wasn't heading out of town this weekend. I always give to these kind of events. I love animals. All of them.

An option for folks want to help but aren't in the area is to order something from Amazon (http://www.smile.amazon.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; so the NRA can get a donation too) and have it shipped to shelter. (You have to sign up to have a percentage of your purchase donated to an organization of your choice.)
