Considering NAA Black Widow
So I have been trying to figure out how to carry my sig p238 when wearing a dress or skirt and no matter what holsters or methods I try, it's just not working. My favorite option would be to thigh carry, but while I'm not over weight, I don't have enough "thigh gap" to carry without having to waddle everywhere. So I'm considering getting a mini revolver like the NAA black widow as a backup for when I don't have a way to conceal my sig. I'm adamantly against purse carry for myself. I don't wear dresses or skirts often, just to church and special events usually. I know a mini revolver leaves a lot to be desired in punch and accuracy, and it's really only good close range and to stop the threat, but I feel it's still a better option than having nothing at all. Anyone ever use a gun like this? Any suggestions?

I know of one young lady that wears one with a small 9mm while she's wearing her favorite Little Black Dress. I realize it doesn't work for everyone, but it might be an answer if you haven't considered it, yet.
After all, it DID work for NCIS-LA!

Whatever works for you but I might tend to look at a derringer in 38 before a 22. I'm not sure the difference in size and weight but in the long run anything is better than nothing.
Re: Considering NAA Black Widow
I've considered the flash bang, but for one I'm just not comfortable with my guns muzzle the close to my chest. Plus I have a little bit of a belly so it prints badly. As for outer thigh I've tried every position imaginable and just can't get it to work. I'm going to keep trying and even see if I can make a holster that will work. I've even tried wearing shorts under a skirt and using my remora or even the leather holster I made, but it still just doesn't work right. I'm hoping that after I get my plastic I can go to the store with my gun and try on things to have a more conceal friendly wardrobe. This is the only time my husband has encouraged me to go clothes shopping!

My wife carries a p238 in a Flashbang holster (when she can't carry her Kahr PM9 IWB) and is able to comfortably conceal it. If you haven't tried a Flashbang it's probably worth a shot. Regarding the NAA, it would definitely be better than no gun at all, especially in 22WMR loaded with something like Hornady Critical Defense.

She tells me that it takes but a second to go in from the top and retrieve the gun, but in that second, it's a interesting show!jimlongley wrote:I sure would like to know how she draws from a flashbang under a little black dress.n5wd wrote:Have you considered a Flashbang? http://flashbangholsters.publishpath.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;asbandr wrote:So I have been trying to figure out how to carry my sig p238 when wearing a dress or skirt and no matter what holsters or methods I try, it's just not working. Which reminds me, arent' you kilt guys supposed to carry a sgian-dubh in your sock? A Sig doesn't seem very historical.

Which brings me to my suggestion for asbandr. You note the mini-revolver is "...really only good close range ..." I think you should consider a knife, a small fixed blade, instead of or in addition to the mini-revolver. It is flat, easy to conceal in lots of places -- and you could carry more than one. A small fixed blade knife would be very fast and easy to deploy (don't you have to 'unfold' that Black Widow?), it doesn't misfire or run out of ammo, and most people are seriously scared of someone with a knife.
Some suggestions to think about:

http://www.amazon.com/Ka-Bar-KB1480-TDI ... +urban+pal" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This one is pricier than the above choices, but it is a pretty neat idea. Take note it was invented by a woman who wanted a weapon she could carry with any clothing and have available immediately.

A nice thing about all of the above is that you can really get a good grip on them, making it very difficult for someone else to take away from you, especially since all that is exposed is blade.
I carry this one in my boot a lot because it is so easy to do so. Should look familiar to AndyC.

Ok, so I've looked at the flash bang holster and videos on you tube. And I strapped my unloaded gun in the same position the flash bang would have it and it was relatively concealable. The only issue I have is with it being in the flash bang, essentially I'd have a loaded gun pointed at anyone to the right of me at chest level, or in the case of my son, at head level. I don't know about the one.

Re: Considering NAA Black Widow
I made a thigh garter holster after ordering one that just didn't do it for me quite well enough. Again, alot of times they "show" them at 3'o clock, nope. some say 9'o'clock, nope again, just doesn't do it for me. I carry at about 10 or 11. yeh, when you sit it's kind of in your lap, but whatever. I do have to adjust it every once in a while, just excuse yourself and go fix it, or I have thought of making a waistband and making garter straps. :)

Re: Considering NAA Black Widow
What kind of gun do you carry in the garter holster? Would you be able to post or message a pic of it? I'm all for diy! And I'm fine with carrying a knife, I just like the idea of something I can use without direct contact. And with the mini revolvers you have to be closer range than my sig, but still not close enough for the attacker to grab at me. This whole carrying as a woman is much harder than I thought it'd be!

Re: Considering NAA Black Widow
There are plenty of people that carry in shoulder holsters that face rearward and men that carry appendix which also aims the gun at areas that one really wouldn't want perforated with a bullet. It's holstered so it should never be an issue, but I can understand the concern.asbandr wrote:Ok, so I've looked at the flash bang holster and videos on you tube.
