Great video, and I agree with the sentiment that the dog needs to be put down, it wasn't guarding territory, it was stalking prey, and the cat did an admirable job. Just goes to show that bullies can happen in any species and they are just as chicken hearted too.

My allergies have prevented me from re-acquiring cats. I get all clogged up and if one scratches me I get "cat scratch fever" pretty bad. Over the years my daughters had cats, my son had a cat (actually my wife's) and my late wife had a cat, and my current wife came equipped with a couple. Once the last one went, I said no more. I have had one that I swear knew I was allergic and would try to poison me, and one that loved to lick the top of my head, and one of my favorite pictures is of my Parrot 'Oz' and my wife's White Persian "Kitty Scarlett" sitting side by side looking through the railing of our loft as if to say, "Patience? Nah, let's kill something."

When I was in the Keys a couple of years ago, there was a guy on a motorcycle riding around the park with a big black cat sitting contentedly on the gas tank. I wish I had thought to take pictures.

I had a tuxedo cat like that back in the 80s. German Shepard came in the front yard while I was unloading groceries. My cat literally flew off the front porch and shredded the Shepard's nose.

We have 3 cats currently, always had at least 2. Of the 3 now, we have Dumb, Average/troublemaker, and Smart.
Our orange tomcat is the smartest we have ever had. He just looks intelligent, in the eyes, Curious as heck, alert, fearless, takes a shower with me, follows me around, and tries real hard to talk. His loud vocalizations are consistent, with variations. I wish I knew what he was trying to say.
He is also very protective of his brother, the troublemaker.

A followup from the Today Show:

The cat was a stray the family took in 6 years ago. Now it makes sense why the cat showed such loyalty. :thumbs2:

She rides in her bed on the console. When we stop, she gets in her carrier on the backseat and waits there until we get back in the truck. When we make a potty stop, she'll go to her litter box in the back floor. She's not only pretty smart, she's spoiled rotten.

When I was young a German Shepard strolled into our backyard.
The dog walked across the yard and saw our Tomcat, Tom, and proceeded towards him. Tom's sister appeared out of nowhere behind the dog in full-stalking mode (she was the hunter, her brother was quite lazy in general). Tom and the dog locked eyes with one another.
The instant that the dog charged triggered a simultaneous front and rear assault from both cats.
Needless to say the dog immediately vacated the premises and we shut the fence door that had been left-open.
I don't know if the cats were "protecting" anyone, but I am sure that they saw the dog as an interloper on their territory.

This is true. As a kitten, she chose us over the other folk in an RV park on Lake Fork eight years ago about now.
