I gave bad information - How to deal with it?

Post by mommagamber »

I had a CHL student that just moved back to Texas. I could have sworn I read that there was no longer a 6 month waiting period for resident licenses. They sent all their stuff in for Texas resident but have not been here 6 months. They already submitted all their stuff should I just wait it out and see what happens? I could kick myself I always relook this stuff up if I don't know the answer and I did not this time. Advice please. :confused5

There is no more 6 month waiting period. If you move to Texas with the intent to establish residency then you meet the residency requirment. I'll be right back with the section of the Government Code for ya.

From the GC

Sec. 411.173. NONRESIDENT LICENSE.
(a) The department by rule shall establish a procedure for a person who meets the eligibility requirements of this subchapter other than the residency requirement established by Section 411.172(a)(1) to obtain a license under this subchapter if the person is a legal resident of another state or if the person relocates to this state with the intent to establish residency in this state. The procedure must include payment of a fee in an amount sufficient to recover the average cost to the department of obtaining a criminal history record check and investigation on a nonresident applicant.

Yeah, I know what you mean. It is always good to find out that the only mistake you made was thinking that you made a mistake! :anamatedbanana

It was my husband that made me 2nd guess myself. He started to argue with me about it and then I started to think maybe he was right. Ugh, I should have just asked y'all to begin with and not have stressed out about it the last few days like I have. :cheers2:

Why in the world would you listen to your husband. My wife learned not to do that long ago. :biggrinjester:

Glad it worked out.

Mommagamber, would you please send me a photograph of yourself? I've decided to collect photographic evidence of mythical creatures, such as unicorns, sasquatchs, Loch Ness monsters, etc. I figure a photo of a woman who listens to her husband should have a prominent place in such a collection.
:tiphat:

Also if I could get an affidavit from your husband testifying to the event. You've got to careful of faked photos when dealing with such improbable creatures.
