Longview, Tx

Post by JR's 12 Valve »

With some luck, I'll be relocating from DFW, to the Longview area.

Where should I look for a place to live? I heard the north side of town is relatively safe, around Spring Hill, but should I consider the surrounding area?

I heard that houses for rent are barely more expensive than renting an apartment in town, is that correct?

Any areas to stay away from?

Thanks everyone.

Not really. I'd prefer some place for rent where I could practice in the backyard, but chances of that are slim I'm guessing.

I'm just looking for a place to rent in Longview, preferably on the edge of town, out to the surrounding towns.

As long as the commute to Warfab (off of Fisher rd.) is about 45 mins or less I'll be content.

Try East Mountain, its only about 10-15min drive from there to Fisher Rd. Its a small country town (less than 800) just across the county line. I live in Longview so PM me with any questions.

If you have kids that are going to be in school, White Oak is excellent.

Spring hill, pine tree area are the best IMO. Most nice houses rent around 1,200 a month. You can find an apartment or duplex for less. I live a few mins from fisher rd.

I've lived in East Mountain for over 40 years. There's houses for sale and rent out this way. The Union Grove School District is just west of us and they're the ones someone posted about not long ago, where they are arming some of the faculty. They are just slightly north of Gladewater and it's a pretty good district from all I know. White Oak is another good district just south of E.M. We're about 13 miles out of Gilmer and that's our district, sort of a long bus ride for kids. It would be good if you could rent for awhile till you can check out the area, depending on your needs. We've got lots of Churches, banks, schools, and restaurants of all sorts. Be glad to help out if I can. I'm the only Larry Price in the phone book. Good Luck.

I will be sending out PM's here in a little bit.

I have no kids, it is just going to be me by myself. I would like to have a max of around $800 or so. I have been told that my wages will increase after the training period, but I have to be prepared in case they do not.

I have been looking around online, and have not seen any houses for rent in my price range, so I guess I will be looking for an apartment, and will have to get a membership to the CTRPC hahaha!

While I prefer to live outside of city limits, an apartment will suffice. I have also read some online reviews of some complexes that were very disheartening, so if anyone happens to have apartment experience in the area, a PM will be appreciated.

PM's on the way Nightmare69 and Hounddog.

Thanks again everybody!

Depends on what you like to do. Longview has a lot for a family to go out and do also. I enjoy getting with my buddies and hitting the pool hall, Buffalo Wild Wings on game nights, etc.
