Here's my timeline for a new application:

Docs uploaded on 9/7
Status Change........
Is that problem I read about the status not showing on the DPS website still a thing? It must be, because the only option i have is to apply to be an instructor.

DPS confirmed my application was received on 8/28 and the status change occurred around 4 days later and I had plastic 5 days after that with a holiday weekend. Until the status change option appeared, it only gave me an option for CHL Instructor application. In other words, everything looks like it should for you, based on my trek through the system last week.

Resubmitted only birth docs I have... Sept 9.

Wife and I both:
Submitted apps on line. 8/25/14
Took class and fingerprinted 8/31/14
Submitted paperwork on line 8/31/14
We both received our licenses in mail 9/11/14.
That's fast considering it entailed the Labor day weekend.
