Youth Football coach attacked, he and wife draw handguns

A youth football coach was confronted and assaulted by people upset their relative wasn't able to play (due to league rules). The coach's wife fires her handgun (with permit) into the air, coach runs to his car and gets his gun (also permitted).

Football league 'fires' them both, says it's not safe to have guns around children. This despite one of the assaulting men showing a weapon to the coach before they begin beating him.

It's amazing how much more this kind of thing frustrates and angers me now I have my own CHL. It has really changed the way I read these kinds of stories.

Well if I were the coach and these are the kind of players I would have quit anyway. Sounds like a whole bunch of winners, but yea the league is just CYAing.

Would rather be fired from a voluntary coaching position than take a beating. He is probably better off.

So the next time hoods show up to throw a beating carrying a gun, nobody can stop them. Great reasoning on the part of the youth league. It's a shame, that coach might have been the only positive male role model some of these kids had.

Let me get this straight. The coach was a victim of a crime and he gets fired?....and then a league spokesman states:
We’re supposed to be good role models,” Crawford said
Other than being submissive and well mannered while being abused, what other lessons do you think the kids learn from "good role model" Crawford? :mad5

Beats the socks off me why anyone would let someone do stuff like that to them.
