ObamaCare architect announces the perfect age to die

Post by jmra »

"Emanuel was one of the chief architects of ObamaCare and is, of course, the brother of Rahm. Over at The Atlantic, he's penned an article about his own death and he's made a shocking announcement about the perfect age at which he hopes to die. While he very specifically rules out euthanasia, Emanuel says he hopes his ticker shuts down at the not-particularly-old age of 75.

The reason? 75 is, apparently, the perfect age for a human to buy the farm. According to Emanuel, people who live longer than that risk struggling through a less-than-perfect existence..."

Keep reading, his father had a heartattack at 77 and even though he is pretty healthy and happy he uses him as an example of why people shouldn't live past 75 because he can no longer contribute to society the way he once did.

One has to wonder if that requirement is built into bambam care somewhere. I wouldn't put euthanasia past them.

Yes it will get harder and harder to get end-of-life care.

Eventually it will get so bad that doctors, hospitals, and patients will opt-out of "the system" (Medicare, Obamacare) entirely and make instead private arrangements for exchanging money for services.

A couple of local doctors have already said "no Medicare patients please!" and one has a "pay me $60 per month and I'll treat whatever ails you" plan.

He is not God not should he play at being so. If he wants to off himself at 75.....go ahead.

As far as the MD's doing a monthly plan. That is a great idea. Lots of incentives for everyone to stay at their best in that situation.

While I do not think I should have to pay for end of life care via taxes, I do think people should get all the end of life care they wish to pay for. It is not a decision Govt should be making.

They will make this illegal for us peons. I would be willing to bet this is in the unaffordable care act already.

Sure, but effectively what happens, just as "the rich get rich and the poor get poorer" what you have is "the rich live longer and the poor die young".

It's the new Natural Selection Process. Of course, the Left will also insist that Big Government "fix the problem".

Round and round we go, which feels like a death spiral most days doesn't it. :boxing

I wonder what Benjamin Franklin, or "Grandma" Moses would have had to say about that.

I guess I'm a horrible person like Wanda Sykes because I wish all the Obamacare people would cede to his wish.

You do realize that when you are on medicare you pay a premium every month, just like Blue Cross. What some call end of life care others call medical care and unless it is an elective procedure like plastic surgery medicare should cover it. If you decline to receive care near the end of life ( and who knows when that is) that is your business. On the other hand, medicaid is the welfare program and paid for by the taxpayer.
If Dr. E wants to save us all some expense he should have moved his end of life care to something like age 50. He can join Karl Marx in a special place.

My life is already less than perfect. In fact, it has never been perfect. Somehow I suspect Mr. Rham doesn't have the perfect life either. And I have no moral obligation to "contribute to society," especially in the sense no doubt intended by narcissistic collectivists.

This is the perfect example of how controlling and invasive government and politicians have become. I find it rather incredulous that anyone would decide what "the perfect age to die is". The current crop of government elitists display a smug superiority that hard for me to stomach. Personally, I wouldn't mind slapping the smirk off his face, but I imagine there is an awful long line I would need to get in.

I've seen Ezekiel Emanuel twice on Megyn Kelly's shows.

They debated Obamacare.

Initially, he was moderately civil, but as the questions grew increasingly pointed, he went from Dr. Jekyll to Mr. Hyde. It was a frightening spectacle. He went from someone rational to someone instantly and bizarrely irrational after a few questions he was obviously very uncomfortable answering. He was very ANGRY his ideas were questioned...

His manner of speech, his body language, was supreme in it's arrogance.

Frankly, he struck me as an unmasked evil person.

He acted like some criminals caught in the act of committing a crime, lashing back at those who've caught him in the act and are willing to face him about it, but rather than admit he's been caught, he wants to bite and spit...

The man is evil!

If they're opposed to people who don't contribute to society, why don't they get rid of welfare and other handouts, as well as artificial price/wage floors. The free rider problem will self correct, if they would unshackle The Invisible Hand.
