A couple of thoughts on a recent home invasion

1. Having all of your guns in a safe and none on your person does you little good when and where you are most vulnerable.

2. My suspicion is that the housekeeper was in on it, with the objective being a burglary that went bad when the homeowner owner arrived back earlier than expected.

There's not enough information for me to say if the housekeeper is involved or not. This could just be random. But that is a possibility and should be considered. One would have to examine the relationship with the housekeeper, how long she'd worked there, etc.

My thoughts:
The homeowner was correct to keep his guns in a safe, locked up while he was away.
His mistake was not being armed when he entered his house. Though things may look "normal" or undisturbed when arriving home, you have no idea what's going on on the inside.

I always have my EDC with me, 24/7 and have it in-hand when I enter my home. Even if just my wife is supposed to be there. It's something I've done for more than 10 years. Thank goodness it's come to nothing all these times, but if just once it makes a difference; then it'll be worth it.

It's a sorry fact that no one is totally safe in their home, so criminals should not consider themselves safe either.
This story would have a different (maybe not happy) ending if I were the homeowner.
