Raw video - car drives through Fergeuson protest in Minneapo
Wow. Don't know any back story but just happened upon this video. Apparently a car drives through the Ferguson protesters in Minneapolis. This really brings back home the situational awareness aspect. Be aware of what's going on around you. Remember Reginald Denny...

I thought that was going to turn into a tragedy when the car stopped. I'm glad they decided to start moving again.

That driver showed more restraint than I would have had. I would never have stopped and probably would have been going a bit faster with one hand on the wheel and the other wrapped around a 45.

He needed some more ground clearance, that's for sure. Had I been swarmed by a crowd like that, whom wanted to kill me no doubt, as long as that ol' diesel could get air, I wouldn't stop. You can't call that a hit and run, because it would be in self defense if he is fleeing for his life. Sad situation, but an angry mob vs. a mini-van, glad to see the mob didn't get to the mini-van, as they would've likely done worse than the driver ever could have. And a mini-van too, I am afraid that there were children in the car as that happened...rbwhatever1 wrote:That driver showed more restraint than I would have had. Seeing as I am a firm proponent of the sage warnings regarding the Iron Triangle of Trouble* and the avoidance thereof, I would not personally choose to voluntarily drive somewhere where protests were expected.
However once one finds himself in that situation, then the choices become quite limited. I fully remember Reginald Denny...

I typically avoid Dallas anyway, but I made sure the wife understood we would not make any plans taking us there over the next few days. Based on what I've read protestors shut down I-35 in Dallas last night. Fortunately police were able to reopen it without anyone getting hurt.

I made that very clear to my wife last week as well. She was not to go into any of the cities for a while unless absolutely needed, and if she saw crowds or protests, to vacate asap. She's pretty well prepared knows the deal, but I feel better knowing I informed her, even if she did just roll her eyes and say, "of course darling." Gotta love er', especially when she's packing more heat then me!jmra wrote:Jumping Frog wrote:Seeing as I am a firm proponent of the sage warnings regarding the Iron Triangle of Trouble* and the avoidance thereof, I would not personally choose to voluntarily drive somewhere where protests were expected.

That’s another great thing about living in a very small town. The last protest I can remember, about 75 people showed up at a city council meeting.
Now the idiots in the video can protest if the driver is not indicted.

God Bless America, and please hurry.

That wasn't protesters, they just never let more than three cars per hour go on that section of 35. Confusing it with an actual interstate highway is an easy mistake to make.jmra wrote:Jumping Frog wrote:Seeing as I am a firm proponent of the sage warnings regarding the Iron Triangle of Trouble* and the avoidance thereof, I would not personally choose to voluntarily drive somewhere where protests were expected.

I am not a lawyer, nor have I played one on TV, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, nor should anything I say be taken as legal advice. If it is important that any information be accurate, do not use me as the only source.

This. Once you make the decision to go, don't stop. That's like stopping to see if your opponent is hurt enough to give up in the middle of a gunfight.ajwakeboarder wrote:I thought that was going to turn into a tragedy when the car stopped. I'm glad they decided to start moving again.
