lol, though to be fair it should say liberal journalist. I'm pretty sure that had Ann Coulter offered herself up like that, she would have found herself in a D.C. cell, tout de suite!

DC police wanted to arrest Gregory but DA said he was a nice guy and had no record so they decided not to prosecute.

Exactly. Or if Gregory had held up that magazine and said, "Hi-cap restrictions do nothing to lower crime"...

In other words, he gets special treatment because he's in the media.

I wish he had been prosecuted just like any of us would have been. Then, and maybe then, would they see that the law is stupid and needs to be changed.

looks like I need to get a 'press' credential... it's like a get-out-of-jail-free card
Interestingly, the DPS prints state press credentials, and they are very open minded about who they call the press. Bloggers, for example, count. All they want to do, at least last I had anything to do with that process, is make sure you report the news in some fashion. You don't have to be Bob Woodward.

That's the way it should be. The press is the First Amendment in action. Anyone who engages in the practice of reporting the news is the press.

I thought the DPS was pretty cool about that.

No, he gets special treatment because he's a leftist/liberal in the media. Had he been one of the few libertarian/conservatives he'd have gone to jail.
