Huh? Not sure what you're referring to as I was simply posting that his explanation of the whole thing was interesting (why people think Texas could, and why it actually can't), as well as some history on our other two former republics.

Just what do you see are the advantages of staying in the US? The federal gov is bankrupt & crumbling - it's bringing Texas down with it.

Though Texas cannot legally secede, it's still a reasonable consideration. The US relies on Texas more than Texas relies on the US. The biggest burden that weighs Texas down is due to federal programs and policies. Texas' economic world ranking was in the top 10 until the obama fiasco gutted it.

Recently the lib media has been gloating over the fact that Texas now receives more fed funds then it pays in taxes. The facts are it's the flood of illegal border jumpers who are receiving these fed funds, ie welfare, medicare, education & policing. Also, "dear leader" has hobbled Texas energy industries and completely shut down drilling in the GOM for most of his term - thus causing many Texans to seek unemployment benefits.

As a sovereign country (2014), Texas would be the 12th largest economy in the world by GDP (ahead of South Korea and Australia). Texas has a gross state product of $1.648 trillion (2014) the second highest in the U.S. Texas's household income was $48,259 in 2010 ranking 25th in the nation.

It would be quite the stretch to make an argument that any type of political purpose would constitute “dire distress”. It is recommended that people who wish to make a protest in this fashion do so that it is respectful of the flag. We must remember that our flag represents the government of the United States and all of its policies. It also stands for our freedom of speech, our right to practice or even not to practice the religion of our choice and it represents one united nation in all its glory and the American values. I came a bit late to this thread . The Confederate flag is part of my and many others history , it is history . I had relatives on both sides and there is no denying what 'is' . J W Westbrook was my great great grandfather , the article below was taken from a book written by Frank W. White Johnson. It is lengthy but interesting , I refuse to erase my family history and it certainly is not all bad . it is reality . I find no harm in the 'rebel' flag at this point in time , you would think that we would have moved beyond that by now .

I sacrificed 6 years of my life in service to this country defending it against all enemies both foreign and domestic and consider my oath to still be in effect. Since our country is currently under attack from within I consider it appropriate to fly the flag upside down, especially since your quote says that the flag represents the government and all its policies. You might agree with that but I do not.

Thanks for your input, but I am not dishonoring the flag or my country by doing so. The evil that is permeating this country through the actions of those who want to destroy it from the top down are dishonoring it.

No arguments necessary. Flying the flag upside down best represents a capsized country.

Political correctness doesnt make untruth the truth. In flying the flag upside down I am exercising one of the few rights, though diminished, that hasnt completely been stolen from me - free speech.

I am flying my flag upside down because I no longer respect today's US & the corrupt & lawless government. As many have, Ive been giving thought to leaving this socialist country.

Government appreciation & respect for our worthy vets and their sacrifices are only hollow sentiment touted by chest beating, deceitful political hacks. My flag is upside down because criminal aliens, artificial victims, & sexual deviates receive more government entitlements & appreciation then our vets.

My flag is upside down because the dreams for my children & livelihood have been stolen & our money is taken and used to displace us. Though it took a while, I quit believing in the tooth fairy. Old Glory is no more.

For me, at one time, New Zealand was in the mix. Then I found out they're big on socialism and insist husband and wife be referred to as partners and all the rest of things progressives love.

That was enough for me to toss em out of consideration.

After that, I started looking into Caribbean Islands. I love to scuba dive, fish, etc., but Islands have their own, unique problems or shortcomings, like poor medical care.

Ultimately, I decided to stay put.

At this point, I may dust off my moving consideration.

This country is in deep, deep trouble.

Abe seems we share many interests. Scuba, fishing, SAILING.

We planned to retire early and cruise the Caribbean, but 18 months ago I had a quintuple bypass and though I bounced back, it is a concern in making future plans.

Ive always been interested in the Yucatan Peninsula & a few of the Caribbean Islands. Leaving will be a difficult decision, I would be leaving many loved ones. Though I am the captain of my ship, the admiral mention an interest in leaving - surprised me as we had never really discussed leaving the country.
