We've already been told that:

1. The new machines are being put in place to detect bombing attempts like the one in the Christmas underwear bomber case.
2. The new machines wouldn't have been able to detect a bomb concealed as it was in that case.

Here's more reason to ask why the TSA is so hot on rapidly deploying a new, intrusive, extremely unpopular and easily defeated screening method at huge expense during a time when cutting unnecessary spending is desperately needed.

If metal detectors can detect metals (knives, guns, etc) and trained dogs can detect explosives, then why do we need these scanners?

Dogs and metal detectors are cheaper, more effective, and non-offensive - so, where is the problem?

It's security theater. Its purpose is to calm the sheep, not stop the wolves.

It's not to merely calm the sheep, it is to beat them into submission. And it is working.

The only thing I don't understand is that she apparently cares about her rights and freedoms and yet she was going to the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia intentionally.

The most upsetting thing to me is that the two bystanders quoted in the article both agreed with her arrest. I just don't get this attitude of "anything is fine as long as it makes me feel a little bit safer". I'm sure they are good with random door to door searches for counter-government propaganda as a logical next step.

:iagree: but did you notice that the 'bystanders' they selected to interview were very young. chances of them or a friend actually having ever been molested or raped while reasonable isn't real high yet.

We bought tickets for my teen daughter to go see a friend in FL back in Nov. a couple of weeks after we bought the tix they announced the new groping procedures...problem is she's been touched for real before. we talked, she decided she really wanted to see her friend and she'd pray real hard and so would we...she made it there and back without being selected...even though they were doing 100% checks  angels riding with her.

I had a discussion with someone during that time who said "ooo but I feel more comfortable with the better checks" "fine, but what about my kid who's been felt up by a stranger, how do you explain to her that now another stranger is going to be touching her????" "oh, hadn't thought about that"

So who have you written about this? Apparently Sen. Hutchison publicly supports this domestic terrorism, so I haven't bothered to write her. I did write Pete Olson and Randy Weber (state senator and rep), and haven't heard a peep from them.
