I guess something old is new again.

In 1968, I knew an elderly man who referred to his beat up old car as a "hooptie".

He also referred to Channel lock type pliers as "em ole crookedy plars".

He was always talking about lost things being: "Summers"

I felt a certain sadness for him.

It is an old word.

In 1988, Sir Mix-a-Lot released a song called "My Hooptie". Even then, it was an old term.

Probably La Marque, the grow their LEOs pretty large there at the donut shops.
