Yes, it hurt, but it wasn't as bad as the horror stories you hear. However, I did notice that it hurt worse the next day than it did the day it happened. So if you had your procedure done this morning, don't be surprised if you're 4 kinds of sore tomorrow.

Also, you may experience some visible bruising on the underside of your jaw and neck as the bleeding and swelling drains toward your body. Just be sure to follow directions to avoid getting a dry socket. That would be bad.
I had all four of mine pulled 3 weeks ago. It was not as bad as I expected it to be (although one tooth did crack) - however, you really need to do EXACTLY as they told you - after the extraction. Definitely rinse your mouth out with saltwater and NO using a straw! If you get a dry socket, it is very painful (what I have been told). You do not want a dry socket! :nono: :nono:

I did reward myself by buying a Les Baer Thunder Ranch after the wisdom teeth!! :thumbs2:

Check for local gun shows and get out that list of pistols you've wanted for a while. Do it now!

Go to the gun show, buy at least one new gun, and explain to your wife that you knew something was wrong when you did it but without your wisdom teeth, you couldn't quite figure out what it was. :biggrinjester:

No, it didn't work for me but, I figure it just might work for you. Good luck!
ha! If I did that I wouldnt get to keep the rest of my teeth!

Day 2 is going better. I took a Vicadin last night only to find out that they make me stay AWAKE instead of asleep. Took away any and all pain/discomfort, SO I guess they are a Day time only pill.
They took out 5 Teeth (4 Wisdom 1 tooth that was beyond saving due to wisdom teeth) Its just weird having all this room in my mouth. I'm gonna have to learn to chew steak again

I had the same problem while going through a root canal procedure.

Is it actual Vicodin or the generic equivalent Hydrocodone ?
I found that Advil Liqui-gels soothed the pain just as well without undesirable effects.

I went in to have my bottom two removed some years ago. They were partial and bothering me badly. The tops were fine.

The doc did an x-ray and found that I had an extra wisdom tooth on the top. So, I wound up getting the all+1 out anyway. They said it may never have bothered me, but it was best to have them out while I was young instead of waiting until my 50s or 60s, where wisdom tooth removal can actually be known to fracture jaws and such.

Needless to say, I was in pain for a week, and took all the stuff the doc prescribed.

Hydro condone.
I've taken 1 of them, I also have a script for a full refill.
Like I said I guess they will go in my Med Kit on my Bug out bag, anyone know if thats legal?

Hydrocodone is a controlled substance. As long as your name is on the container, it's perfectly legal.
However, many prescription drugs lose their potency over time. So if you stored them for a few years they may not be as effective as they are now.

As you're the one who is taking them then that's probably fine, just watch the expiration date. There's some ethical/medical concerns over giving prescription drugs to someone else. Dr's prescribe drugs to you knowing what you're already on as well as your medical history and they know if the two drugs are going to have interactions. For example if you have a viagra Rx and decided to give one to your buddy who's wanting an extra fun night with his girl, and he's on blood pressure meds, then his blood pressure can drop to dangerous levels.

That being said, there are some things that I like to keep around for regular use such as anti-inflammatories and phinergin for nausea.

Heh, whats kinda funny is when I went to the oral surgeon, he looked at me and wrote me 4 Scripts right there after taking my blood pressure. Didnt weigh me, nothing.
5 Scripts
Amoxicillian
Ibupfron
Hyrdocodone
Some Nasty Mouth Wash that tastes like bad Vodka.
And Valium for before the surgery (That stuff puts me out for a day and a half)

What "undesirable effects?" :smilelol5:

"rlol" That's true.

I meant the "not being able to sleep" part. ;-)

Yes, it is legal, as long as the doctor legally wrote the scipt, and you legally refilled it. There's no law that I am aware of which requires you to consume all prescribed drugs by a certain date and then throw them away if unused.

Depends on the day for some of us. At 200lbs, I normally take aspirin when prescribed Vicodin (acetaminophen+hydrocodone) because it's just about as effective for me. I can generally take whatever amount of Vicodin is prescribed and feel nothing except a slight dulling of the pain. Around the time our daughter was born, my 120lb wife and I both got scripts for Norco (also acetaminophen+hydrocodone) for different ailments, and neither of us took any right away. A couple weeks later I strained my shoulder, couldn't find the Aleve, and decided to give the Norco a chance. Label said "one or two as needed" on both bottles, and both were the same strength, so I grabbed two from my bottle and washed them down with a glass of water expecting to need some Aleve as soon as my wife got home to tell me where she'd hidden it.

Half an hour later, I couldn't have spelled Aleve if I was looking at the bottle...unless maybe somebody spun the bottle at the same rate as the room. I was getting seasick laying in bed. Once it wore off I added a note to the bottle labels of "take one, wait half an hour before thinking about a second one."

I've got about 100 pounds on you, but did almost the same thing with Valium.
I got 4 tablets back in Boston. Thinking it was no big deal I took 2 the night before and 2 before the Dentist.
TUrns out they scewed up only meant to give me two.
I slept like a Rock, dont remember taking two the next morning, going to the dentist or the rest of the day or the next. Woke up on Wensday, went to bed on monday. It was kinda scray really. The wife says I was like a giant Baby.

Learn what the dosages mean. Norco/Vicodin are brand names for a mix of hydrocodone and acetaminophen. The word "hydrocodone" is often used interchangeably with whatever brand it is sold under, but it is actually a mild opiate similar to codeine. And even if purchased under the generic name "hydrocodone," it is still prescribed as a formula of hydrocodone and acetaminophen. Acetaminophen is the active ingredient in Tylenol. The dosage will be expressed as two numbers separated by a hyphen or a slash: 10/350 or 7.5-500. The first number is the number of milligrams of hydrocodone. The second number is the number of milligrams of acetaminophen. Keeping in mind that acetaminophen can be liver toxic and unforgiving if overdosed, NEVER take over-the-counter Tylenol on top of a Norco or Vicodin or "Hydrocodone" pill.

I weigh 304 lbs today, and when I take either of the above doses, I feel a distinct dulling of pain accompanied by a very mild euphoria, followed in a few hours by drowsiness. I have noticed that I don't feel sleepy during the peak effect, but I've also noticed that if I go lie down, I can get right to sleep pretty quick. Oddly, although it does bother some people's stomachs, hydrocodone makes me hungry.

Like most opiates, hydrocodone will cause constipation if not chased with lots of water. The longer you have to take it, the more likely you are to suffer this — which is why I couldn't ever get addicted to it... I'm more afraid of constipation (and its own pain issues) than I am of back pain.
