Re: Body Gaurd Carry anywhere?
level 3 is armed and uniformed officer. weapon must be visible. level 4 is a PPO explained above. in both cases you can only legally carry on duty. it does not supercede a CHL.
Re: Body Gaurd Carry anywhere?
David, I don't think it would be either worth your time or feasible to take the course, just to be able to carry more places:davidtx wrote:I found the following: http://www.texassecuritylicense.com/aus ... vel_iv.htm
Can anybody summarize the difference in level 3 and level 4? Depending on where I could carry, it might be worth taking the course.
"OCC §1702.206. LIMITED AUTHORITY TO CARRY FIREARMS. (a) An individual acting as a personal protection
officer may not carry a firearm unless the officer:
(1) is either:
(A) engaged in the exclusive performance of the officer's duties as a personal protection officer for the employer
under whom the officer's personal protection officer endorsement is issued; or
(B) traveling to or from the officer's place of assignment; and
(2) carries the officer's security officer commission and personal protection officer endorsement on the officer's
person while performing the officer's duties or traveling as described by Subdivision (1) and presents the
commission and endorsement on request.
(b) An individual who is acting as a personal protection officer and is wearing the uniform of a security officer, including
any uniform or apparel described by Section 1702.323(d), may not conceal any firearm the individual is
carrying and shall carry the firearm in plain view. An individual who is acting as a personal protection officer and is
not wearing the uniform of a security officer shall conceal the firearm."
In addition it looks like you have to carry liability insurance, and possibly file a surety bond with DPS. AND you have to be working for a security company while carrying. (don't know how that works with having a CHL though)

Thanks! I figured it was a long shot.

Can I be my wife's or daughter's PPO? The pay isn't great, but the benefits are unbelievable.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

You know I spent several hours last night researching just such a deal.C-dub wrote:Can I be my wife's or daughter's PPO? The pay isn't great, but the benefits are unbelievable.

It would seem the hoops required would difficult. You have to have a contract on file for your "employer" the employer has to have insurance.... you have to be a commissioned officer before you can become trained and apply for a PPO license.

Hmmmm....it's not "Flowermound Lake" is it?marksiwel wrote:GrapevineI'll still call you Flowermound lite.

Regarding what TAM said about DFW Airport - he's right...that's one of the HUGE benefits of living in Grapevine, lower taxes because DFW airport is on our tax rolls.
OK, to get back on topic, CompVest posted "Yes, Level four security officers can carry while performing their jobs in places CHL holders can't."
DOes this include carry in a secure area of an airport, etc? What's the list of prohibited places for a Level 4? Just curious.
Re: Body Gaurd Carry anywhere?
Really...? DFW is on your tax rolls? Unlikely, since it's a state chartered entity....PUCKER wrote:Hmmmm....it's not "Flowermound Lake" is it?marksiwel wrote:GrapevineI'll still call you Flowermound lite.

Now I'm still mad that Tarrant County stole part of Flower Mound from Denton County! And they may as well call Grapevine Lake..."federal lake" since the US Army Corps of Engineers claims jurisdiction and prohibits firearms.

It sounds like the Texas legislature thinks people who can afford bodyguards have more valuable lives than you and me.bronco78 wrote:You know I spent several hours last night researching just such a deal.C-dub wrote:Can I be my wife's or daughter's PPO? It may not be property tax rolls he is talking about. Think of the amount of money they get in for sales tax from all those stores in there, plus airplane tickets. even at a municipal rate of 1%, that is a bunch of money.ScottDLS wrote:Really...? Sales tax could be...on the concessions. I thought of that after I wrote this. However, there is no state/county/city sales tax applied to airline tickets, only the concessions. The landing and ticket surcharges go to the airport authority. However, the taxable business property of the airlines located there does go to Grapevine, so Pucker was right about the commercial property, though the airport property itself is owned by the airport authority. I don't know how much the concessions make, but I 'd think Grapevine gets more from their giant Bass Pro and quasi-30.06 posted Mills Mall.srothstein wrote:It may not be property tax rolls he is talking about. Scott, not sure of the exact numbers but it helps quite a bit from what little I know. Regarding property, from what I recall, if a plane is based there then it's counted as property (that's taxable). Think of all the structures/buildings there as well.

Like the secure area of an airport, owned by a state chartered entity, with taxable commercial property located on the grounds. So there, back on topic.marksiwel wrote:Can a body guard legally carry in areas a CHL cant.CompVest wrote:And the topic of this thread was...?
