I have an older brother that taught me how to use them. I was the only one in my class using a slide rule in the 8th grade (1958) and I continued with them thru the college days. I had a 6" pocket slide and a longer one but cannot remember the length, probably 12". Wish I still had them.

Did any of you ever play with a circular slide rule? Those were great!

I'm 43, but I learned to use a slide rule around 1977, in the early days of electronic calculators. Rules were much faster for division.

Slide rules also taught you the importance of significant figures, and how to extrapolate.

never used a round one. Went back to my fingers after high school. :lol:
