Its interesting that the definition for treason is the same under both the US Constitution and the CSA Constitution.

EDIT: I should note the only difference between traitor and patriot in this context is whether you win...

Washington and Jefferson were traitors, from England's perspective.

Many of the folks at the Alamo were traitors to Mexico.

The use of "civil war" is a misnomer, because a "civil war" is one where competing parties fight for control of the same country.
