I have full on race seats, lots of side bolster, etc. I have found the best holster is the Fobus paddle holster due to ease of rearranging while in public. Sliding it around while in the car, and then readjusting once you are out of the car is really easy. The only issue with the paddle holster is your daily attire. You can't go tucked.
If I go tucked, it is never really perfect....in car, out of car. The paddle gives you options that can be adjusted without going out of cover.

Thanks, I wish my seats were that supportive. Honestly, I've about pulled the trigger on fixed back racing seats about a half dozen times. One of these days. My seats won't be nearly that much trouble, but it's nice to hear that seats shouldn't be too big a problem.

I've never personally like the idea of full on fixed racing seats in car that is not a dedicated racer. I like to be plenty comfortable. I have thought about buying the Corbeau TRS or LG1 for my mustang, but if it was a track only car, I might consider full race seats.

I am the only person to drive my car, and I do race from time to time. The only thing I miss...heated seats.
For me, the support, and the weight difference are worth it.

I'm the only one who drives my car also, but being 6'2" and 270lbs, most fixed back racing seats fit me like airplane seats. While my mustang is no longer my daily driver, I still prefer to be comfortable. Being that this is my 3rd one, and I raced my last 2, I also have no desire to race this one, yet. I am going to at least wait until it is paid off before I dig into the engine and suspension.

I had a 1979 Mercuy Capri, daily driver in high school. The interior was gutted, two Recarro seats with five point belts, and roll cage. I thought it was so cool as I built it, but living with it on a daily basis was a pain in the neck! Climbing over the side bar, and getting into and out of the 5 point got old REALLY fast. Ahhh, the good old days.
The reason I put the race seats in my current car is that they sit a good bit lower than the stock seats. I am not as tall as you, but the interior of an RX8 is cramped to begin with. Two inches of headroom makes all the difference.

Well, my card came in the mail today. I don't have my supertuck yet, just the paddle holster that came with my gun. I think I'm going to do the Wally walk tomorrow with the paddle, so I'll get a chance to drive with the gun tomorrow. Then I'll be waiting for the ST to come in.
Thanks all.

I carried my fullsize XDm 40 for the first 3-4 months after I got my CHL. Traded that in for an XDm 45 as soon as they came out and carried that for another 4-5 months. I started of with a Comp-Tac Minotaur and used that with no issues with sport seats. I did find that I had to move the holster around from the 4:00 position during normal wear to the 3:00 position when I was in the car to get around the bolsters. So I think you can carry a full size gun with no issues.
However, I came across a Kahr CW45 on here one day and bought that and it sure is nice carrying something that small and knowing its still a 45. Every now and then I'll carry the XDm but the Kahr is the EDC now for me. I use a fist-inc ultrathin kydex holster with it and completely forget its there. The holster makes a world of difference...get a good holster and a good gun belt.

I just got the Crossbreed supertuck for my Kahr. Really comfortable. I have been a Kahr fan for a while due to their size and quality. I can carry a larger caliber but it is easier to conceal.
I have not even broken in my Crossbreed Supertuck holster, but I am loving this thing. Worth the money. Kudos to my wife who got it for me for Christmas. She would never buy me go-fast parts for my car, but has no problems buying holsters and ammo....hmmmmm.

Sweet. I'm still waiting for my Crossbreed Supertuck. I wanted to carry today, so I used the paddle holster. Man, what a pain. One thing that I've learned, wear a T-shirt under the cover shirt to help with the gun holster when wearing a holster like this. Still, it wasn't bad. I'm sure that if you were looking for my gun, you'd have seen a bulge, but it wasn't a discernible silhouette.

Yeah, I'm still waiting for my ST. I ordered the horsehide to help with the hot, humid summers. Everything that I've heard and read says they are extremely comfy. I looked at the single stack Kahr 9mm guns. That seems like a good compromise between one of the .380 pocket guns and a doublestack 9 for size. I think I'll eventually get a compact XDM, but it's possible that I may look at the various Kahrs. If I get the XDMc, then I won't have to worry about getting a new holster. Either way, I suspect that's at least 6 months down the road.

I drive a 2000 Trans-Am. My carry has been either a Glock26 or 19 in a super tuck at about 4:00 I'm 5'11" and 180lbs. I have no comfort issues. I drive a Ford F450 at work for 10-16hrs a day and make regular trips to see family in OK in my TA. My only suggestion is with the supr tuck, get either the J-clips or C-clips as the metal ones WILL tear your cover shirt AND your seat. With the amount of time I spend behind the wheel, it only took about 3 or 4 months to destroy 5 work shirts and the seat back in my work trk. After changing to the J-clips the problem has stopped.
CONGRATS on your plastic and always know your surroundings

I love the XD line and want an XDm badly but might I suggest a 1911? I do not have a sports car but when switched from my XD to my 1911 it was amazing. I am not saying that the XDm cannot be done but I know from carrying both that the 1911 is much more comfortable everywhere.

I'd love a 1911. I'm sure they carry more easily than a doublestack gun. I would assume that a shorter grip helps with the "conceal" portion of concealed carry. That's why I was thinking one of the Kahrs, since they are a single stack 9mm. It'd be similar to a 1911 in shape only smaller. With either, I end up having to spend more money on another holster.
I'm hoping that I've got a better idea of what I want to do, and have the money saved up to do it by this coming summer.
I got word back that my Supertuck should be in the third week of Jan. I guess I'll be getting used to the paddle holster that came with the XDM.
