Re: Give me your honeymoon ideas
I'm a fan of the cruise...that is what i did on my honeymoon. Eat, eat, and eat while seeing some really nice places without having to worry about anything. They do a great job of taking care of you...plus I just love being on the water.

Re: Give me your honeymoon ideas
ummmm......let's see. $3000 ought to get you a couple of nice pistols and a day or two at the range.
Seriously, Congratulations. We've done the Hawaiian Cruise but its probably out of your range, but we're doing the Sandals Bahama thingy next week. Can let you know how that goes.

Another vote for Colorado here! The wife and I took our honeymoon up there during the first week of August 2008. We rented a cabin in Woodland Park, did some whitewater rafting (Buffalo Joe's) outside of Buean Vista on the Arkansas River and rode some 4 wheelers out of Nathrop. Take the trail up to Lake Hancock. One of the most peaceful places I've ever seen! We were there for 4 nights and 5 days and the price was well under $3k.
Good Luck and Congratulations!

We took ours in Fredericksburg. Stayed in a B&B. Went to Enchanted Rock. (she was an antiquer then). Also had a picnic in Kerrville by the Guadalupe with the ducks.
We had to wait and do the expensive trip thng last year when we went to DisneyWorld.
Doesn't matter where you go, just as long as it's somethhng she likes to do.
Congrats.

"flying" as a private pilot or commercial? If the former, Lake of the Ozarks or Lake Tahoe. At Tahoe, the airport is on the very edge of the lake, and there is boating, skiing, hiking, casinos, and other activities. At Lake of the Ozarks, there is an airport at the edge of the lake also, but a few miles away from the resort areas. There is boating, skiing, hiking, and other activities. Commercial, fly into Jefferson City (Ozarks) or Reno (Tahoe). My wife and I went to Lake of the Ozarks for our 1st honeymoon and to Tahoe for our 2nd one.
Congratulations.
Congratulations.
Re: Give me your honeymoon ideas
My wife and I, after planning AND paying for our own wedding, decided to get a cabin up in Leakey...and veg out for a week. The only time we ever saw someone else was when we went to a winery or to the local market. Right on the Frio River. It was relaxing and didn't cost a fortune.

My wife and I went to Puerto Rico for our honeymoon and we loved it. The weather was beautiful, and there were lots of cool places to go visit like Bacardi
.

Re: Give me your honeymoon ideas
The caribbean all inclusives are great. The wife and I went Jamaica 26 yrs ago on our honeymoon. We went back last summer much different but still wonderful. The all-inclusive is just amazing. We have been to Cozumel Mexico twice, Playacar Mexico Area twice and going back to Playacar this summer. All but the first trip were been booked online with either "apple vacations" or "Funjet". Whatever you chose remember to focus on you new Bride the most. May you have many great years together!

If you're so inclined...
I recently moved here from WA state and there are a few amazing places to visit up there that are close enough to Seattle to spend time in Seattle at Pikes Place Market but one that beats them all is an accessible but just enough of an out of the way place on Whidbey Island WA. It has some very PRIVATE one bedroom all inclusive rustic (but modern) cottages that are for rent and completely furnished and stocked with food.
The wife and I have been there and it is awesome... On Whidbey you can tour the island see the Naval Air Station, Tour various winery's, do some small town sightseeing and shopping and then take the ferry to Seattle and shop, sightsee whatever...not to mention it is on one of the most pristine waterways in the nation. The island is set between the incredible views and hiking within the Cascade Mountains, Olympic Mountains and Mount Rainier.
And no...I don't work for them or affiliated in any way but they actually left that good of an impression on us...
http://guesthouselogcottages.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and http://www.whidbeycamanoislands.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Or Williamsburg Virginia with Bush Gardens right there is a great time too if you want some history... http://www.history.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and http://buschgardens.com/bgw/default.asp ... telink=BGW" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
OR...if you want the tropics without leaving CONUS... Florida Keys

Re: Give me your honeymoon ideas
It is what you make of it.
Ours was an exchange of vows in front of a JP in Poplarville, MS, the War Eagle Supper Club in Auburn, Alabama, two day old peperonni pizza, a shared Coke, and a overnite visit to Bald Rock just outside of Wadley, AL.
Those attachments still stand.
Commitnemt is an interesting journey. Without that, its just a vacation.

Re: Give me your honeymoon ideas
August ain't the best time to go nowhere; especially, on a Carribbean Cruise.
How about going away for the wedding weekend and saving the longer trip for the fall when everyone else's kids are in school and everybody else is back at work and/or at football games on the weekends? That said, the Smokies should be dooable from a travel and $$$ standpoint ASSUMING the Mrs. is agreeable. Otherwise, coasts are cool in the fall - after hurricane season.
Just sayin'...
At any rate, good luck and best wishes!

Re: Give me your honeymoon ideas
Hawaii is by far the best place we ever went but I don't think you can do it for $3000. Been on 3 cruises and I'm not crazy about them. Kinda like being held captive in a big hotel. Bahamas didn't impress me that much but it was rainy but I understand it's like that a lot . Key West is where I would go. It was fun and Fla is gun friendly.
Re: Give me your honeymoon ideas
If you like snorkeling or sky a diving the Cayman Islands are good. Grand Cayman has lots of diving spots but more tourist trap. Cayman Brac and little Cayman more local and good honeymoon getaway.
